How many of you are using the Zoll autopulse and have you had any battery issues?

My old service used them in it's rural operation. I never heard of them having too many troubles with the batteries, but that could be they never used them much. They very rarely transported a working code, and only used it on a pt who coded in transport.

The only battery issue I have experienced is the machine not recognizing that a new battery has been placed in it. Sometimes you really have to slam the battery in, but once the battery is in just right, it runs smoothly.

We have only had this problem with one of our autopulses.

The biggest issue with the batteries, is constant cycling. They get changed every shift and placed back on the charger. This kills any battery. They need to be run down once in a while. We replace all our batteries each year. This helps keep them fresh.

I went on a code where we showed up and CPR was in progress. We have the autopulse at the place I intern at, and got it on the patient. But the battery died halfway through the call, so we had to do manual compressions until someone was able to get the other battery. So yeah, the battery can be unreliable.

This may assist anyone with an AutoPulse.

As you know, we continue to test the AutoPulse (AP) batteries monthly. These tests reveal a multitude of data that is used to ensure that the AP devices are deployed with a battery that meets or exceeds a standardized clinical trial threshold that has been approved by the various ethics and safety boards governing this study around the globe.

This month, for the first time in a long while, there was a significant uptick in the amount of batteries that were not test cycled. Next week, we will re-test all of the batteries that were not test cycled. Company officers, please check the back label on every battery in your station. You should see an early October date stamp with an initial from the individual that test cycled the battery. If the battery was not test cycled, please ensure that this vital task is completed.

Replacement batteries cost $ 750.00 each
