I am totally new to the EMS field. I will probably be taking a 10 week course in petaluma in april through SF PARAMEDIC ASSOCIATION. It seems the best choice. Has anyone heard of it?? I am wondering if it will be easy or hard to find employment?? I live in Santa Rosa but I am willing to travel a little bit for work. I have a couple speeding tickets but also have a class B commerical drivers license and have experience in adolescent drug addiction treatment. Also, how much are EMTs making in Sonoma county or nearby? I heard they only make $11-$15/hour?? I would love to talk and make contacts.

Any information is much appreciated!!

Thanks!

SFPA is a great and well-reputed program.

Santa Rosa Junior College is also one of the TOP institutions for EMT classes- and that may be more convenient for you. The director of SRJC is also affiliated with the SFPA so you'll get a similar education at both. I would say if you want a longer program, you can't go wrong with a jc. Cheaper, too!

Good luck with wherever you choose.
Cheers.
