Hello, I'm applying to my local volunteer ambulance corps and have a question about the background check. I was arrested when I was 18, I'm now 24. I received an unconditional release and the case was sealed under youthful offender. Do I acknowledge this under "have you ever been convicted of a crime?" Im in NY if that helps.

It was a stupid act of criminal mischief when I was young and I have since been (and still am) a memeber in good standing in the Air National Guard and an excellent college student on my way to my bachelors, so I feel I have good moral character. I just want to make sure I don't shoot myself in the foot by answering wrong.

Thank you.

Good luck in EMS you'll enjoy volunteering :)

I'm going to take this one step further.

You're asking for legal advice. On an EMS forum. I'm a pretty good paramedic, but I'm not a lawyer.

In short... ask a lawyer.
