If anyone is familiar with Road Safety and how it works and a few other things, can you please PM me. I have a few questions

I'm being accused of going P-1 multiple times in a day (for a long period of time). I KNOW I have never done it or would ever think about doing it. But somehow its showing 7 times in 1 day with a few times on the freeway doing over 85mph (which you can't without getting tone) and I know I was never on that freeway at the time. I was with a partner who wants to move up and she was mad I talked to a supervisor about her actions at a nursing home.

They are not showing me the paperwork, and I'm off indefinitely (union is getting involved). They told my union president that they did show me. Haven't got a clue what it even looks like. Only 2 things I can think of that could have happened. 1, my head was so far up my arse and I was deaf that I couldn't hear it going to a transfer. Or 2, someone is forging some paperwork. They've pulled other people from other trucks and it supposedly doesn't show anything. I'm seriously confused because as I said, there's no way I would have ever done that.

There's a few other things all of a sudden I'm being accused of but they cannot tell me. If I want to know I have to talk to a union rep. Seriously?

And they told the union rep I admitted that I use lights and siren to get people out of my way during high traffic hours. I told her absofrickenlutely I never ever ever said that. Also, they told her that I was already talked to about my driving-in which they didn't.

But supposedly there's other stuff such as "talking dirt about our vice president of our company". Seriously? I don't know the guy long enough to even know anything negative about him. Again they won't discuss what is being said supposedly.

Either way, I'm fighting this one. Probably should get an attorney..but... And even then, I don't know if I really want to be at a place like that...

I'll be the first one to admit if I did something wrong. Especially something serious since I know the consequences. But I swear I haven't got a clue on this one and its making me sick trying to figure it out. I've asked my common partners and they all told me nope, they don't believe it, they know me better and know I wouldn't do that. She was a common partner too...a very annoying, un-commonsense partner that I finally talked with management with.

Oh well...

Honestly it sounds like you ticked somebody off and they're out to get you. Might just want to try for a new gig. This one doesn't sound worth holding on to.

Wow, Paramedics in Michigan have a Union?

How did I get left out?

Come to GM City and it seems like you have to be union or...

Thats the only thing I can think of honestly...I really like the company and 99.9999% of the people but if thats how things are going to be....

Honestly, do you want to work for somebody who will throw you under the bus for a personality conflict? I'd be damned to see what support they would provide for a lawsuit/complaint.

Lawyering up may damn you down the road, if you get known as "the guy that sued his bosses". Sounds like you should cut your losses and move on if the mirk doesn't completely settle to your satisfaction.

Honestly, it sounds like it's time for you to cut and run. While with a union rep, you may end up getting unfired, but the minute you make the slightest mistake you'd be on the chopping block.

EMS is like a community of bored 40 year old house wives. Everyone knows everyone and their business. It is better to keep your name off the radar. While you may be within your right to go to a lawyer, you should be prepared to deal with the possible consequences, like being labeled as the EMT who brings his company to court!

I'm going to chime in with the 'choose your fights carefully' crowd. Fighting legal fights in small communities is like a pedestrian in a cross walk being hit by a car. Sure, the pedestrian has the right of way, but physics doesn't care who was legally right.

Similarly, just because you might be legally right doesn't mean that the final outcome is benificial.

True, never really thought about the whole court thing.

I honestly always stayed low to the ground and stayed out of everything, especially after I left dispatch last year. It just aggrivates me that I KNOW what I did...and yet its up to me to prove them wrong...

The Union Rep told me I'm screwed, BUT, she told me they were telling her I was admitting stuff that I wasn't even asked about.

Childish people...

I understand Road Safety automatically deletes itself after 30 days. Unfortuantly, yesterday was the 30th day. And I haven't been allowed to review the paperwork. Although I supposedly "have". I was told by someone who is familiar with it, to not look at the stack of papers they have, but to look directly at the computer and have them print it directly from there since it is possible to change it from the original...

Oh boy...

The only thing I can say, aside from agreeing that you may want to cut your losses, is to use your log sheet to your benefit.
Take the days when they said you violated speeds, etc, and show them where you were at those times. Maybe you were transporting a patient five miles away from the highway, and that transport took no longer then expected-- then how could you have been on the highway?
Ask for a clear set of accusations, and the evidence they hold to support it.

We don't have log sheets....

Can you compile the PCRs of your patients that day? Correlate times with location? Correlate starting and ending mileage of the day with your calls? Look at the standard mileage and time that the calls you can took-- and show that you could not have deviated to the highway (where you allegedly sped Code3...)

Hockey,
We have Road Safety as well. It sounds like there is something seriously wrong with those units!!!!!!!! Have you asked them to test the unit in that truck to make sure that it is working right? Also, is this aimed at just you or does anyone else have this problem with that truck? I'd ask around and see what others say......
Just my $0.02 worth.

And the story changes AGAIN

I talked to the union rep and told her I'll drop it if they just let me quit instead of having a negative fired on there.

Also they fired 3 other people in the past few days for nothing. Oh I'm not on probation they found out. Oh schucks they are saying...oh schucks....

Dun dun dun

Honestly it sounds like they are trying to get out of having to pay unemployment if they lay you off.

Huh?

You get UE if you get laid off, (trust me, its MI) get fired, or even sometimes quit.

Thing is, I'm going to another company but if I put the reason they are using, I'm sure I won't be getting this better paying, better everything job.

We'll see

Maybe it's different in MI, but here it's pretty common for employers to bring up bogus reasons to fire someone so that they can fight having to pay benefits. (Maybe UE's the wrong term? I just got off of work and I'm soooo tired, can't think straight) What you are describing sounds quite a bit like something one of my friends went through (though it wasn't in the EMS industry).

Anyways, good luck with the better job! I'm sure things will turn around once you're out of such a toxic environment.

Wow.

I don't know much more than you, regarding Road Safety, as I'm just a user, too.

Sounds like someone is out to get you. Best thing I can say is Good Luck!
