I heard OCEMS is expanding protocols for emt-b's. Does anyone know what new things we'll be able to do?

Here's a link to the draft:
http://www.ochealthinfo.com/medical/ems/45-DayReviewDocs/315.00-Draft.pdf

The three big chances from when I was down there are NPAs, oral glucose, and SpO2 "monitoring" (apply and record number, because EMTs aren't going to interpret?). Also being able to assist with patient medications is being codified. It should be noted for people not familiar with the system that we got a new medical director last year. Before him there was virtually zero BLS protocols and no BLS scope posted online. Since NPAs and oral glucose wasn't on the required equipment list, it was generally taken as being out of our scope, especially since they weren't supplied.

Hey I thought the OC was just a TV show.

Don't call it that.

/obscure?

You can tell someone really from OC versus a migrant from elsewhere in the country because us native OC'ians don't use the definitive article.

I think he may have developed what we in the soft sciences refer to as 'Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.' Or 'the O.C. Disorder.'

I'm from the OC of the eastern US.

Oakland County! ^_^

Long Beach! :D pretty close... considering working for CARE and I believe that's an OC exclusive ambulance service

I'm from the OC, Garden Grove near Cypress/Seal Beach to be exact.

I heard we need to know how to hook up a 12lead, and some other stuff that I can't remember.

Negative. Care has 3 911 regions in LA County.

Any paramedic assist skills will be taught to you by the company. Hooking up ECG leads, spiking bags, and a few other assist procedures aren't complicated or hard.

Jeez OC got screwed out of so much protocol

Such as? ...and to be specific, I mean as far as things that are actually done, not, "well, I might eventually, once in a decade actually use..."
