Hello,

I have an interview coming up this Monday with AMR Victorville for a paramedic job.

If anyone has any information about how they conduct their interviews that would be super helpful.

Thanks

Congrats. I need to transfer to VV. Idk if its the same for medic, but for emt, general interview question ie. Tell me about a stressfull situation, why AMR, why do you want to be a medic.

Right on, thanks for the reply, can you tell me what it's like working for Victorville?

1. Shift schedules

2. Equipment

3. Reputation with fire on scene (ALS or BLS fire)

4. Management

5. Pay

6. Opurtunity for O.T. ??

7. How many rigs they run.

8. How is the station life.

9. Do people stay in Victorville or use it as a foot in the door to AMR in other locations

Any other input would be helpful

Thanks!!

1. Shift schedules

2. Equipment
Not bad. Mostly new type 2 fords. Power gurney, LP12

3. Reputation with fire on scene (ALS or BLS fire)
Fire is ALS.
4. Management
No comment. Just that they just hired a new sup. Things were too laid back to say the least.
5. Pay
Normal Socal pay. They are unionized.

6. Opurtunity for O.T. ??
Enough.

7. How many rigs they run.
Not sure.
8. How is the station life.
Some units are out of fire stations. Some have little shack houses with TV etc.

9. Do people stay in Victorville or use it as a foot in the door to AMR in other locations
Lots of long term. People usually like Victorville especially Icema protocols. Some of the best you can get in Socal.

Any other input would be helpful

Thanks!!

Good luck. You will like it. New medic?

Thanks! And yes I am a new medic, so I'm hoping to smoke this interview and start working. Sounds like a very good place to work. Do you know how many medics they are trying to hire?

Should get some good calls and experience, Good Luck!

Seeing as it's monday, good luck/hope it went well.

1. Shift schedules
12 and 24 hour shifts. 12hr cars start at 4am and the last car gets on at 8pm.

2. Equipment
Decent enough. Most rigs have nearly 250,000 miles on them but 4 brand new ones are about to be added. Just got power gurneys, will be getting stairchairs at some point...everything else gets the job done.

3. Reputation with fire on scene (ALS or BLS fire)
Depends on the crew. Some fire/amr hate each other, some get along famously. I've had my issues with some but the ones in Apple Valley and the older guys are great

4. Management
Again, no comment. Recently had some issues with a bad seed that just got taken out. New sup, very cool dude.

5. Pay
As a new medic, around 14-ish an hour. Take a dollar or so away for a 24.

6. Opurtunity for O.T. ??
Someone is always bailing on their shift. We get pages for open shifts (pretty much daily) so as long as you're available to work on a whim...

7. How many rigs they run.
At the same time, around nine 12hr cars and three 24hr's.

8. How is the station life.
You'll rarely see it. And be happy, nobody likes to clean or take care of things anyway.

9. Do people stay in Victorville or use it as a foot in the door to AMR in other locations
People use it as a stepping stone for fire, mostly. But there are quite a few life-ers,

Thanks!!

Good luck!

Thanks Minerva!

Ya my interview went very well. I was interviewed by Mike McDermitt and he seems like a real cool guy. I enjoyed interviewing with him a lot.

So now I'm just praying that I get the call back.

I would definitely be stoked to work there, and about those ambulances I think I saw them (new looking graphics on the back) they look pretty sweet.

oh ya,

what is a typical schedule you would work at AMR Victorville?

for 24?

for 12?
