Ok, So i have a question regarding the Medical Examination Report for the Ambulance drivers license. I am a Private Pilot, and currently hold an FAA Third Class medical certificate from 2008, to the FAA its good for 5 years. But on the DMV website it states

Submit either a: (not required if you have a valid medical report already on file with DMV).

* Medical Examination Report (DL 51), or
* Acceptable Federal Aviation Administration or Department of Transportation medical form.
Effective October 1, 2004, DMV will accept only a Medical Examination Report (DL 51) with a revision date of 2/2004 or later, or a current medical form (containing the new blood pressure guidelines) approved by the Federal Highway Administration or the Federal Aviation Administration.

So are they referring to my Third Class medical certificate or a different one, that i dont know about. Are there any EMT/Pilots in here that could help me out? Thank you.

The FAA have Class 1 (CPL/ATPL/ACTS) and Class 3 (PPL) now I don't know what a Class 2 covers but I know they have one.

Class 3 and the DOT guidelines are about the same, however the FAA is probably more restrictive. Class 1 is for commercial pilots and air traffic controllers OMG it's like freaking Jack Armstrong the All American Boy physical on steriods.

Why don't you call the DMV and ask, for now enter Los Angeles Bravo airspace via the Skyline route at or below 500' caution heavyjet departures westbound, squawk seven two zero four, the LA altimeter three-zero-zero-one, hold readback, break, New Zealand five heavy call SoCal Departure, so long. :P

An FAA Medical at Class 3 or higher should suffice. I'm not a pilot... but I did (once upon a time) pass ground school. When I was reading about the medical exam for the Ambulance Driver's Certificate, I checked into the matter and found that a current Third Class FAA medical is sufficient. To be certain, contact the DMV and have the FAA medical exam form handy...
