First a little background about me. I am a 10 year paramedic and throughout those 10 years I have worked in a variety of EMS systems. I have worked inter facility, intercity 911, rural 911 and as a remote medic off shore.

I am looking to relocate to NYC in the next six months and while the idea of running 911 in that system is appealing I'm interested in what other opportunities are around. I am very interested in a position as an organ transplant coordinator or something similar. I don't know if I could handle the 9-5 grind after so many years. :)

I'm just curious what some other folks have done as paramedics specifically in the NYC area?

AAS - Paramedicine, BA - business (no desire to go back to that world lol)

Not really NYC but I transitioned to the oilfield last year and now run a medical clinic. I absolutely love it.

Are running a clinic in the oil patch? Or another area?

I live on the east coast and work in the northern Alberta oil sands. My understanding is there are similar jobs across the USA or offshore . I work 2 weeks on 2 weeks off( there are a variety of schedule) my employer covers flights and all living / expenses while on rotation. Depending. On the clinic I am in charge or regular staff . I usually work with other medics and rns. You will also more than likely have expanded scope meds and skills. Suturing and antibiotics for example.
Sorry I have no info for NYC but just wanted to let you know there are other options.

I worked 2 weeks on 2 off in the Gulf of Mexico. We had a similar expanded scope and I have quite a few of the required off shore credentials. I'm curious who you work for can you pm me?

I've been looking at offshore and ran into SMS, an Acadian ambulance company. Supposedly they are pretty good to work for and the pay is good

I worked for SMS it is a great company to work for. Decent pay, good schedule and depending on your supervisor pretty good autonomy to practice.

I'm glad you posted lol. I was wondering about that company as I'm tempted on applying there for a change of pace and scenery
