Hello! So I have been browsing this site since fall of 2013. Mainly about NREMT.

I became a state licensed EMT in November of 2013. Recently, the service I had been planning on working for has opened hire for EMTs!

Albuquerque Ambulance.

I was wondering what their candidate exam feels like? I have been brushing up on what "knowledge" I have for Basics in our state. I really do not know what to expect. Would anyone have guidance to offer about this exam? Highly competitive. I heard only 12/50 applicants were hired last time, half of the 12 being Paramedics.

I thank you for any input and look forward to reading whatever advice you may offer.

Whoops. I have read past posts regarding Albuquerque Ambulance. They seemed mainly geared towards Paramedics and were posted a few years ago.

All the tests are rather comprehensive and require a good grasp on pathophys. Almost every question is long answer or short essay. Very few fill in the blanks or multiple choice.
I have taken the medic test and been working for most of my career in the ABQ metro catchment zone. I can try to help you with any questions you might have.

Outstanding! I have read some of your other replies to those seeking information about AAS.

So, I have figured that the test may be pretty beastly, especially since I have no field experience except I did a third ride with a Paramedic at AAS, clinical shift at AAS, and have done a little over 9 months as a volunteer down in Valencia.

I have been reviewing my notes we took during the course. However, I doubt that will be enough.

For someone with little experience applying to a service like AAS, what do you suggest we brush up on? I finished the class in September, passed the NREMT in November, and have not worked EMS ever (besides volunteer work down in Valencia County, in which I was not a licensed EMT and could do very little on scene).

Lol which district? I recently finished a stint as supervisor for the newest ambulance company in ValCo, and have been working down there for almost three years total

And I would recommend making sure you know the pathophys to the cellular level of shock. That seems to be the biggest thing

District 4. I actually was hoping to work for AMR and continue to volunteer there. Then my second child was born, wife picked up extra school, and my son is only 3, I could not afford to make the drive 4-6 times a month. Haha. That's insane.

Pathophys for shock? We didn't get much on shock. I would say types of shock and a general idea of what the SxS may be. I will re read the area and see if there was any more information I may have missed in my notes.
