I am 17 and live in the state of Georgia. I have had someone tell me that at my current age, and still being in high school i can take an emt-b night class. Is this true, or must you be 18 and graduated? All answers would be appreciated

Without any definitive proof from the state, but just looking at admissions for EMT/Medic programs, they want you to be 18.

Now, even if the minimum age is 18 to be certified, that doesn't mean you can't take the class when you're 17, you just have to wait till you're 18 to take the certification test.

Your best bet is to ask the school you're looking at what their minimums are.

yeah...check the school to see if they allow you to take the course then take the test when your turn 18. I know in my class in MA we had a bunch of people (probablly 4-5) that were 17 so they had to wait to take the state test but were still welcomed and respected and im pretty sure all passed the class. Many served as pts during the state test so they knew what it was like.

Thats what I did. My class started in January of this year and I turned 18 in March. One girl in my class turned 18 like two days before our state practical.

You may need to be 18 to participate it the required ride-alongs.

That is how it was for the kids here.

Yeah, I barely met the age requirement for my program, which I took during my senior year of HS. We had to be 18 by the start of clinicals and my birthday was the week of.
