Putting out a feeler to those who live and or work in PA.
Does anyone know of any specific Agency or Regional Council that is operating an IALS program in PA? So far I have been unable to find anything. Last I heard an Agency in Berks County was trying. It is a completely new concept in PA. Last I checked I was the only PA AEMT in my County and 1 of maybe less than 15 within our Regional Council.
There is a published Official Scope of Practice for AEMTs, there are State AEMT Protocols, and there is a State equipment list for all EMS Units from QRS to MICU to Aviation. There is a column for AEMT / IALS Unit or Truck within the State list. However I know of no Agency Career or Volunteer that is fielding AEMT's.
I understand it will take time but a question I am running into is "How does a PA AEMT complete the refresher portion of re-cert that requires verification of proficiency of skills when there is no known way to do this?" It was suggested that PHTLS or TCCC could count however that person was speculating. "Clinical" seems to be a word that can mean many things. We all known how NREMT is about CE/Re-Cert and a MD might just sign off on it.
Ideas or information is greatly appreciated.
