Hi.

I'm an EMT-I that's nationally certified and completed school about seven months ago. I have a pre-medicine degree and planned on becoming a paramedic to help fund med school. All of my education was in GA and I intended to get a job there and finish college there until 14 firehouses were shut down in my area, coupled with the financial crisis of Grady, I found that Atlanta really closed down it's intermediate hiring. Following a friend's advice, who told me that the Raleigh area in NC was hiring, I moved here and got certified in NC.

I've been monitoring their NC OEMS employment opportunities and stopped in at the county firehouses to place in applications. I've also checked Monster. Are there any other resources I could use to find a job as an EMT-I that someone might know?

Thanks.

You aren't going to save up the hundred-plus thousand dollars needed to fund medical school through EMS. You will be able to fully fund medical school through student loans though, which I highly suggest you do.

I was hoping the EMS to be supplimental to the loans. It would be a lot better than the theatre job currently held.

Don't be so sure. In a lot of places, jobs like theatre ones make more money than EMS
