Hi! Does anyone know a place that started Advanced EMT classes already? About how many hours of clinicals and classroom hours are required? What skills are in this new level? Thanks!
A) Which state you are talking about
B) I-85 or I-99 (I-85 curriculum ends March 31, 2013, I-99 curriculum ends December 31, 2013)
C) Which educational establishment
etc, etc, etc
Or is it the new in-betweenie that you are asking about?
In Alabama the first class of the new Advanced EMT program at the local Comm College is in progress this Fall. Here it's a one semester program. You go to class 3 nights a week, for 4 hours a night, for 16 weeks. Plus 90 clinical hours. All that works out to 10 college credit hours.
Not sure exactly what the scope is for the new Advanced: IV's, some kinds of tubes, more meds.
EMT-A in alabama can start I.V./I.O. place B.I.A.D., CPAP and give 11 meds. Zofran, epi 1:1000 for allergic reaction, benadryl, NTG, ASA, D10 or D50, Thiamine, Narcan Albuterol, Nitrous Oxide, Glucogone, and of course 0.9% NS.
