I researched the forum about this course, didn't find too much info.

My question is, how valuable of a course is this? As in, the people who may have taken it. Did you find it was worth the price? ($175 here in NC) Is the knowledge gained any more useful than what you may have learned about burns in EMT/Medic school?

ABLS:

- manage the airway
- keep them warm
- parkland formula for IVF resuscitation; make sure the UO stays high

The end.

I haven't taken the class but I've talked to a few who have and none liked it. They said it wasn't anything more than what they got in medic school. When it comes down to it, management of burns in the prehospital setting is pretty standard, Halothane basically laid it all out already. I would add stop the burning process as well as remove restrictive clothing/jewelry and lots of pain meds to his list but other than that I got nothing.

Does anyone have IVF warmers in their rigs? We do, always make sure there's two liter bags in it. Keeps them at ~102-104F. Seems like a lot of services run in circles with Ben patients. They do a good job of trying to keep them warm but then they hit them with huge boluses of cold IVF...
