I am 20 years old, have been volunteering 911 for over a year as well as a first responder for a few months. Also been working transfer for over a year. I am looking for a 911 service that hires at 20 years old in the houston area, willing to travel for work up to 50 miles or so

None that I know of at the EMT-B level.

As a Basic, you have to drive and all agencies that I know require a minimum age of 21 - 25.

Military will

Good luck.

HFD, entry age is 19. Otherwise, your best chances of 911 are as a volunteer until you get your medic and you can upgrade to a paid position. Almost all 911 in the area is handled by vollies, HFD, or MCHD.

i volunteer right now, as well as doing first responder, and HFD requires an associates or military experience, i have neither, and i am not a commissioned FF either

Ah, sorry about that

I somehow assumed you were looking into dispatch.
Still. military will "hire" you at 18.

nope looking to stay on the truck, dispatching just isnt for me lol, and no military

Waiting a year to work for a decent 911 provider won't kill you. The bigger issue I see in your future is finding a 911 provider in Houston that hires Basics.

i will be done with paramedic school in 7 weeks and i turn 21 in april so ill be fine, it wont kill me but continuing to work where i do right now will lol

Do you want to do EMS only? If not there are a few FDs that will hire you and put you through the fire academy. Otherwise if your this close to finishing paramedic and your almost 21. I say get your P and try to put a little time in as a medic even if on a transfer truck. I can only speak for the area I know but HCEC (old ESD1) and most of the services on the east side of the county have openings fairly often.

If you only have 7 weeks left, focus on your medic. Then just keep riding where you are while talking to other agencies. It's much easier once you have your P (and much easier for an agency to waive the age requirement - although you may be restricted to not driving.)
