A woman was found dead yesterday in Fresno due to carbon monoxide exposure in her home. Apparently, the power had been shut off and she was using a generator to heat and power the dwelling. Firefighters were dispatched to a "person down" call and 3 FD personnel required bariatric chamber time after entering the residence and becoming victims of the same CO that killed the resident. 'Tis the season for calls like this; let's be cautious when entering these homes.

(any references to the FD "canaries in yellow coats" will be cheerfully ignored...:P)

Great Post Tin and also a great reminder!!!!!

Oh yeah. Every year, and probably now especially with economics down.

People get into wood heating and such when money's tight, and use generators when the power goes out.

I told the deputies in class how one EMT described the "cop-ometer reading" as using the radius from the incident where you find the first unprotected LE officer down as the danger zone. They actually found it pretty funny.

Isn't that supposed to be Hyperbaric chamber? A Bariatric chamber would just be a really big chamber to accomidate those of generous girth.

Kev, I entirely read the same thing and was about to comment on it!

Bariatric chamber is another name for a re-compression chamber for divers etc.

Not in as common a useage as before, perhaps a UK thing. Any UK folks have a comment?
But, we digress...;)
