The whole situation came to light when a supervisor saw EMS units going through red lights and intersections on emergency calls without their lights and siren activated.

Despite how "progressive" we think we are at EMTLife, protocols are there for a reason. If you don't like them then you're welcome to advocate for changes and updates. Simply disregarding protocols will get you in trouble and can be detrimental to the patients and public.

I was referring to the lack of QA, CQI and oversite from the companies and the attitude I have seen from several medics from there. While i believe O2 and smr are used far to often i agree that people need to follow their protocols or have a good reason ( documented) for doing so.There have been several stories similar to this that have come out of Ontario the past several years.
