I'm curious if there are any area's that I'm missing out on right now. I've been a forum browser since around October of last year. I just finished my EMT-B this past spring and got my TDSHS cert at the end of July this year. So far I have my applications in with:

Capital EMS
ETMC (Waco)
Scott & White EMS (College Station)
Milam County
Washington County
Greenville / Hunt County
Medic One Medical Response
Harris County Emergency Services Corps
Beaumont EMS
Coryell Memorial Healthcare System EMS

I've sent job interest cards to:

Jewett EMS
Coastal EMS

Area's I'm thinking of applying to but debating whether to due to competitiveness of jobs for these places:

Granbury / Hood county EMS
Marble Falls Area EMS

I've done a lot of research on the quality EMS 911 service providers for TX, and so far these are the only agency's I can find. I honestly just want to start working in the field, I'd prefer a service that at least does a mixture of 911, but preferably all 911. I just don't want to be stuck with a transfer only service, which is why I haven't applied to Acadian or some of the other AMR subsidiaries. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I'd appreciate any tips or leads anyone might have...or perhaps just some advice to a fresh EMT entering the field. Thanks!

Cypress Creek EMS
San Marcos/Hays County EMS

Austin/Travis County EMS now hires basics too.

Awesome. :) Thanks Wes, I don't think I've looked into those...and yeah I know about ATCEMS...pretty competitive, I would try; however they aren't currently hiring, but will keep them in mind.

By the way, you know that Coastal is primarily transfer and only occasionally does backup 911 for Cypress Creek, right?

As a new basic you would benefit from transfer experience too. Don't discount those ift only services.

Hmm, I did not know that Wes. From what I was able to gather from the website, they did 911. Thanks for the info though, sometimes it takes people experienced in the area to sift through all the choice words company's choose to use when describing what they do.

I won't be looking the other way with transfer only services, however until I feel all my options have been exhausted and I'm still looking for work...or that the opportunities are too scarce at the moment, I'll put my app in to some transfer services. The difficult thing though is that most will require a move, and I'm not sure it's worth moving for a transfer service at this time.

I want to be able to continue on and finish my education to become a paramedic. I appreciate the advice though. I know as a fresh emt-b I'm against the odds right now, but I want to try my luck.

Email or message me if you've got questions. I don't do EMS full-time, but I've volunteered in both the Houston and Austin areas.

Acadian and AMR both have multiple 911 contracts throughout the state. You also may want to consider Allegiance and CareFlight.
