    AMR Irwindale interview

San Gab is going to be more reasonable cost of living wise, Clarita for scenery. All of them are AMR I suppose. If you haven't worked ETs before you'll probably start off IFT and float, pick up all the ET shifts you can and when bids come up (I honestly don't know how they run their shifts)...

Lifting patient with possible dislocated shoulder

Pillow or two under armpit, pillow on the outside, secure it with the sheet. Even if she was walking wounded, you wouldn't want her to walk down stairs just in case. Whether the use or stair chair or scoop was more appropriate is on you, you kno the scene better than us.

BVM mishap. Did I do something wrong?

Also since I can't edit for some reason, try to match the patients Respitory rhythm and increase their total volume. Don't squeeze harder, good way to cause barotrauma.

BVM mishap. Did I do something wrong?

Was there an airway obstruction? Did patient need suctioning? Since OPA was rejected, assuming no contraindications pop an NPA in next time. Lube that sucker up and patent the **** outta that airway. Make sure you're checking for gastric distention.

    Rookie question on DNRs

That would be a county protocol thing. Here in orange county CA, if patient is in cardiac arrest and immediate family are there and unanimously agree to allow natural death to occur, then we can. Assuming no prior PROPERLY filled out POLST, ADR, or Electronic Orders are present.

Use of NPA on ALOC patient?

What were the patients vitals? Did you have reason to believe the airway would become compromised? What county in CA were you in? What's the protocol. Here in California, pretty much anything aside from taking vitals, they're going to want you to upgrade to ALS if you're not already. Kern...

    UCLA Hybrid Medic

I was wondering if anyone had attended this program? The $16,000 tuition is a bit steep, but I have a feeling that that's why they have such a high Pass rate and employment within 6 after rate (paying $16,000 you better freaking teach me well enough to be proficient and pass right?). Are there...

    AMR Irwindale interview

Care now runs 18 out of 19 cities in OrCo for 911, Shoreline being the other 911 provider (in house with OCFA in Westminster). Doctors and Emergency are still "technically" running 911 as far as I'm aware in a couple of cities, but I'm fairly sure Care is taking over the Doctors contract as of...

    paramedic class.

I haven't personally seen it, but I've heard from people who've witnessed it first hand. You can choose to go straight to medic, but during your internship things can get rough for you and your patient, depending on who you're interning under. There have been incidences where a medic fresh out...

Hey all, long time lurker first time poster. Just writing to ask advice/vent about the current situation I am in with regards to my company. For legal concerns and concerns about keeping my job I'll leave out my companies name. I moved back down to Orange County about 3 months ago, as I was...
