Anyone from Illinois know of any Medic prrograms

What's up from Chicago. All the paramedic classes for the 2014 semester are already filled up....at least for the ones I looked into. So far I have only looked into Ingalls hospital, Loyola hospital, and a few community colleges. Does anyone know of any medic classes in Illinois that would be...

    Narcan anyone???

Talk about a dynamic job environment. Well I won't be seeing any of that action as we mostly deal with dialysis patients/pickups.....would love to be in a firehouse to get more experience such as this.

    the 100% directionless thread

Lmao at the last couple of comments.... I've done that a few times and had the reaction ":o omg really!!! You're about to become a doctor!?" And I've had to tell them no, just paramedic school. Lol. I've since made an effort to say "paramedic" school to bypass the confusion.

    Narcan anyone???

Hey thanks for the reply. I've google'd it but just wanted to get a real world testament on the subject. The thought of someone high as a kite sobering up in mere minutes is shocking. Never heard of it. I figured as much. How do you search old topics on here? Thanks again. Taqee

    Narcan anyone???

So I just found out I got hired at First Response in Chicago and am currently studying their SOP's. I came across something I never heard in their SOP's called Narcan. Never came across in my EMT book but it's supposedly common in the field. Supposedly, this reverses any effects of opiates or...

EMS Question - Paramedic Immediately after Basic?

Yeah having at least a little experience I think is a must. I only had 2 months of book knowledge before I got on an ambulance for ride time and I honestly wasn't confident in doing most stuff like using the suction machine, getting the ECG ready or even talking to patients/family. I was just...

    Salary

I used to think $10 was bad until I thought of the benefits that come with working in EMS: you're on your own(sort of), plenty of OT, paid time off just to name a few. And the most beautiful part of it is all the skills you learn can take you to the fire side, become an RN, a medic, etcetera.

Just finished mid-term practical and ride time and have a few questions...

@ Sublime I see. I guess $15 to $18 is plenty for driving around all day saving lives. The little time I had on my ride along wasn't bad at all. Pretty cool actually

Just finished mid-term practical and ride time and have a few questions...

Thanks for the replies. What's the difference between having your medic card and having an NREMT card? @ Chase I thought they made $25 to $30 an hour. The med-firemen I talked to made upwards of $70,000 to $100,000 a year. I just figured since a med-fire guy makes that much a plain old med...

Just finished mid-term practical and ride time and have a few questions...

Hello to everyone. I'm an EMT student in Chicago studying at the Evergreen fire house and have two months of class to go before I am working in EMS. I just finished a 14 hour ride along with an ALS ambo in Chicago and have millions of questions and appreciate any feedback. I couldn't ask too...
