H8 - Part time San Francisco Fire Department paramedic.

Sffd is slowing down on hiring. The window for mass hire was all last year . So the extra 100 people who got in were lucky. It took roughly 4 years to hear back after doing all those testing and interview so keep in mind that it can take that long

    Elijah McClain - medics charged

You forget that the kid was autistic and doesn't function or interact with law enforcement like a atypical person? The cops messed up and don't know how to interact with special needs clients and the medics messed up up for not doing a proper assessment. Everyone screwed up in this call

They finally hired a seperate payroll division for us along with a maybe 2 temps? To try correcting miscommunication. Since bring care people up here to help, alot of them are surprised on how well our Union is set up and the things we have in our cba. I feel bad for the care workers down south...

Also need to include the fact that they are still getting our pay wrong after 6 month into service in Alameda county. With the influx of care people coming to help the system they forgot that they only came with a set amount of equipment and fail to realise that **** breaks so we have crews...

Out of curiosity what are your call volumes in your county? Your correct we have wall time at hospitals but that's out of our power to fix. County has a 40 min window but hospitals can only do so much to unload. Honestly I'll take the wall time because In the end your gonna run another call...

There isn't in terms of protocol. It's the volume of calls that happen in the county that makes it a good learning experience but that's my opinion. As for fto process no idea when you didn't pass but as of last couple academys there has been an increase in ****ery of ftos not allowing to fail...

Aprz some of what you say are true but consider this most of our hospitals are less then 15 mins away from your location. Yea our medic pool has been going down in terms of quality due to the fact that paramedics plus won't let fto fail people. They would simply be shuffled through different fto...

Keep in mind though that's 13 years later. Your gonna be starting at 17 an HR on days and it's a low chance to get a strike. Day bls units are usually open but you need to be working full time for 6 months and understand the county really well to get I to lead status emt in order to get the 3...

Top step night emt makes roughly 40 an HR. If you work bls you get extra 3 dollars If your a lead emt on the unit. Add on fto which is another dollar you can make roughly $44 an hr but it's the Bay area so cost of living here is hella expensive so you would still have to work alot of ot to be...

man thats some nice info on PUM. I can see the whole thing about work force working for less. Alot of our senior EMT/Paramedics pre-transition have left for better opportunities and then that leaves us with a whole lot of new medics and EMTS making less. We currently have two tier pay scales...

Yea it does pretty much, except the company cant handle the amount of money they are losing. If we go PUM, im guessing at this point, the county will bill the patients and then they pay the private company. the county also is able to get funding from the GEMT money if they design a PUM system...

The public would probably not back it with a monthly service. Well that's what I think. Yea third service is ideal for the employees but it all comes down to money pretty much sadly
