    Bowers Ambulance?

I do not think they should be transported by ambulance. Why? Because in my County, ambulances so 0 dialysis transports. Oh, we must have healthy people? No. We have wheelchair and gurney vans. Much cheaper than an ambulance, and a more appropriate level of care. Just because you can't walk, or...

    HALL AMBULANCE

Well, were not hiring dispatchers currently, but I'm late in replying... But we do hire externally for Dispatcher, although we always try to hire internally first. Schedule is, 12 hours, 2 on 2 off, alternating weekends off. Pay is somewhere between EMT and paramedic pay. $11-12/hr? Same...

    LA County CARE Paramedics?

I'm seeing on social media that CARE has Paramedics now. When I worked there, they didn't have any. How do these paramedics function? Is it like McCormick where they cnst actually be paramedics?

When does Los Angeles county bids renew???

$20.44/hr out of medic school (is that 8 or 12?) Is not bad. Neither is $22 at liberty. $17 for an EMT?? That's pretty darn good if it's 12 hour pay. But what are the hidden intangible costs? 1) I have to work in LA County, under LA protocols. 2) I can't run 911 as a medic, unless I'm a...

    Ask Your Billing Questions Here!

What modifications to patient signature rules are there for special circumstances? For example, a patient in custody, or a 5150? (Involuntary mental health hold) What about a patient who has a conservator? Are there any patients in the special situations catagory that do NOT need to sign, and...

    Ask Your Billing Questions Here!

Yes. It's ridiculous. But its the SoCal way. The engines are not besting the rescues, they are usually from the same station. Some departments have changed their "rescues" from pickup trucks to actual ambulances, the only difference is these "ambulances" are not permitted to transport...

    Ask Your Billing Questions Here!

That's the way I've understood it. It was explained to me differently, but same end result. I was told fire "bills" private ambulance for what ever the aggreded upon fee is, and ambulance collects the bill from the patient. I was told this because apparently firefighters like to direct...

    Ask Your Billing Questions Here!

Is it true that Medicare and or Medical (if you're familiar with it) do not allow a provider to bill any unpaid portion of a bill to the patient?

HIPAA section allowing for QA/QI Follow up

There is a section of the HIPAA laws that allows for providers to follow up on patients for QA/QI (educational) purposes. Does anyone know the name of this section, or have a link to its text?

    LA Area Companies

There are VERY few EMTs here in Ventura, and even fewer are on 911. Only a handful, however they are paired with a medic. If you do get hired as an EMT here you will likely be doing IFTs until you get "EMT-ALS Assist" at which point they will let you ride 911. Its VERY hard to get on as an EMT...

    NY to California Question (NREMT)

Ventura County is very easy. Get your NREMT and that is all you will need (other than fingerprinting). Here is the EMT application packet, it has everything you need in it. They may ask you to complete a skills test (there is a company in Simi Valley that will do it. I think its called EMS...

    Off-Duty Response

Lets say that you are off duty and for the sake of this scenario you have a scanner in your personal vehicle. Your state does not have a duty to act law and you are not in uniform. You hear a call go out for a man down, not breathing. You recognize the address as less than 1 block away inside a...

Any places in CA that hire 18 yr olds?

We're all excited. But dont settle because its convinient. If you want to be a paramedic do it. But if you want to be a nurse, do that. Dont make your decision based on pay.

    Medium-Duty Ambulances

I'm sure there is a reason, but why do some agencies use medium duty ambulances? Here we just use the smaller ambulances, mostly just the van conversions, but some have the box on the back. I believe all of those here are bariatric.

Any places in CA that hire 18 yr olds?

Whats the rush? At 18 you are already ahead of the curve, just like I was (but I sat on my rump and wasted time.) All of those prereqs for medic school are there to help you, and 6 months is a MINIMUM. I am planning on 1 year ambulance experience (in addition to my 6-9 months other EMT...
