    scope expansion in Washington state?

The state can add whatever skills or components it wants to the curriculum for each level of care but each county MPD will still have the ultimate say in what skills may be used in his respective county. For example EMTs in Washington State (by curriculum) can do CPAP and 12-lead acquisition but...

    Washington State EMS Certification Question

If the company is not a licensed EMS agency and cannot sponsor you, you cannot get your state certification. If you leave your affiliated state agency your certification becomes "INOPERABLE" until you obtain affiliation with another agency so even if you get your cert and leave your EMT is no...

    Looking for work in Washington.

Generally turnover in private ambulance is high for a number of reasons. There is a high percentage of people that use the private ambulance/EMT route as a 'stepping stone' to something else whether it be nursing, respiratory therapy, PA, etc. Those individuals show up work for a few months...

    speeding ticket

Aside from whether or not the ticket will affect your employment opportunities, you might want to give some consideration to the fact that a large portion of EMS include driving a vehicle and if you make a habit out of driving 15 mph over the speed limit you probably should consder another line...

    not good on interviews..

Unfortunately interviewing is a huge factor in any hiring process. Especially in this field you need to be able to function at your best in high stress situations. It is hard to believe someone can de-escalate a suicidal person, start a line in the dark on a pt trapped in an upside down car, etc...

    Fresh out of Class EMT.

n7lxi is correct. I worked as an ED Tech for a few years and at that time I had 4 years of fast paced full time EMT experience under my belt and when I was interviewing for tech jobs almost every hospital told me that their practice was that they rarely would hire someone with no ER/hospital...

    Testing For Rural Metro

You can pretty much expect that the practical skills evaluation will be a one person evolution, you will not have a partner or any assistance. Your best bet would be to look through your WA DOH Appendix H Practical skills checkoff sheets and study the ones that you know you could perform as a...

    EMT in Seattle/Washington...any hope?

You have to understand that in this field the job is not going to come to you. There are plenty of jobs available. The people who get hired are the ones who send in an application and then call and follow up routinely (it may take several weeks) but CALL, find out where you are on the list and...
