EMT-B's in my area aren't allowed to administer charcoal. I's and up can, but they also have more pharmacology training. As for me, I don't think I've ever used it. No thanks. Just looking at the stuff makes me gag. :P

This. You don't need to justify your moral integrity to this stranger. Give a short, firm answer and go from there. People will drop any "card" they have if they feel their personal sense of justice has been violated.

Long story short, trendelenburg is generally not useful as a treatment for shock. You aren't missing out on not being allowed to use it. My local protocols don't allow it either, and if they did, I would probably contact med control to bypass it. The best BLS treatment for shock is call ALS.
