How do I become a PAID instructor for CPR or First Responder?

I have been an EMT-B for almost a year now. I have ran about 800 calls, mostly 911. I love it. However, I need some variety, and some $$$. The only two options I can see online are either a CPR volunteer for the American Heart Association, or becoming an independent contractor and spending a...

Los Angeles - What good opportunities for employment?

Well, I got hired!!! Hey everyone, I got hired, finally at a 911 company!!! I applied at 6 different 911 companies, and several IFT companies as well, so I am very excited to finally get the call. According to what several of you have told me, I shouldn't say the name of the company I work...

How to have gloves on you at all times

I think it's a good idea I think your idea is cool and inventive. I notice that non-inventive people usually have that phrase to say about others, "You have too much time on your hands." Have YOU come up with any original ideas lately? Peter

Los Angeles - What good opportunities for employment?

Here's the latest So I diidn't get hired at Care. I did well on the written test, and the interview. I think I blew the skills test, not sure. My first "patient" was a boy with lower left leg bleeding, non-arterial. I put direct pressure on it, the proctor said "still bleeding." So I put...

    Ambulance Driver's License (ADL)

Whoever said that people tend to fail the California DMV Ambulance test was right. I read the booklet twice, did the online test, felt great, after all, I had finished the NREMT with 70 questions, so I thought I was good. I failed the test. The DMV lady was surprised also. She said I...

I see now. I didn't see the difference before between LAFD and LACoFD. So McCormick runs with LA County FD. Thank you Anthony. Peter

Los Angeles - What good opportunities for employment?

Tomorrow I interview with Care Ambulance I didn't make it to Gold Coast Ambulance in Ventura yet. Got there too late. Tomorrow, Monday, I have an interview with Care Ambulance in Anaheim. On the email they sent me it seems like a lot of testing to be hired. Any comments or tips would be...

Did Michael Jackson have only Paramedics attending to him, or also EMT's?

My ride along was in Hawthorne I did my ride-along in Hawthorne, right at McCormick headquarters. We came back to that station after every call. Unless we got called before we got back. The LAFD Paramedic units I saw looked like they had those glass doors on the back of their rigs, seemed...

Did Michael Jackson have only Paramedics attending to him, or also EMT's?

I have only done one ride-along I have only done my ride-along, so I could be wrong. That day, we responded to six 911 calls. At that company, both the LAFD AND McCormick respond to the 911 call. Sometimes we beat the LAFD there, and sometimes they beat us there. But we transported the patient...

Did Michael Jackson have only Paramedics attending to him, or also EMT's?

Here in Los Angeles, it appears that the Fire Department works with ambulance companies, so each 911 call gets both FD Paramedics and Ambulance Company EMT's, am I right? But I didn't see an ambulance on the news yesterday. Usually I can spot the McCormick or Care or Schaefer Ambulance in the...

Los Angeles - What good opportunities for employment?

Thanks, Terrible One. I am going to Ventura today, I will apply to Gold Coast Ambulance there. I think its a very interesting idea what you mentioned, I am definitely looking into it. I have no problem driving for one hour to a job if it means a lot more experience. Peter

Why are the EMT uniforms in Los Angeles so old?

This may not be a big deal for some, and maybe I am just weird about this, but I have been now to 6 different ambulance companies here in Los Angeles, and almost all of the EMT's I see walking around have frayed, faded uniforms. I mean the pockets are frayed, the dark blue pants are faded...

Los Angeles - What good opportunities for employment?

Here's the latest I am not sure about putting all these Ambulance company names on here, but anyway. I finally went down to McCormick in person, PeskyFish and a couple of others told me to go down there in person. So I did, and finally I will have an interview this Wednesday. Written...

Los Angeles - What good opportunities for employment?

What the $(#*@? So after reading all of your posts and encouragement, I applied at AMR, McCormick, Care, Gerber, Schaefer, and APT. So Gerber calls me back right away. I go down there, and there are three guys sitting in a room taking a test. Two are in business attire, one in jeans. I was...

Have any of you seen a person revived with CPR ONLY, no AED?

I understand the chances of a person reviving with CPR only are about 5%. And obviously, when we arrive, we bring an AED. But I am curious if you guys and gals that have experience have ever seen or heard of any documented cases where a person was revived with CPR only?

Wow, in Mexico, only ONE EMT shows up? I wonder if he at least has an AED, or what training he has.
