Is it one of those times where you cant just say "Because I want to help people?"...In my Paramedic Class interview, when they asked why I wanted to be a Paramedic, I said because I wanted to do more than I could as an EMT, and apparently it was a good enough response...

squid, in a Nationalized Health Care system, you cant just go and get a procedure done. You are put on a waiting list. Waiting lists for procedures that the government doesnt deem "urgent" are very common. Granted, it does seem that "overall" the Canadian system does seem to lead to healthier...

That was an interesting read...I do object to the idea of Universal Health Care...Mainly on the basis of personal choice. Our ability to get a problem looked at when we feel it is a problem is a very powerful thing, something that isnt found in Canda (Or other nations with similar healthcare)...

Oh...I wasnt implying you should go to a school in St. Louis, I meant "big cities" in general... I dont think there is anything wrong with using EMS as a springboard, I plan on working a few years after college as a Paramedic, and then going to Med School... Anyone else here plan on moving...

If your willing to make a few sacrificies and find the right college with good resources around it, you can probably do both...Big cities are probably best(Im not sure where your thinking of going), here in St. Louis there are so many places for EMS work and training that finding one to fit my...
