    Gastric distention

Use size 16-18Fr in adults. We don't usually carry all sizes, but only 16-18Fr in our intubation bag. In pediatrics, we use the Handtevy app to guide us. For testing purposes, I just remembered twice size of the endotracheal tube you use eg size 5 endotracheal tube means size 10Fr OG tube. It's...

    Gastric distention

I didn't start doing it until my new job a year ago. At my prior job, it wasn't in our scope of practice or something we carried.

Who clamps their tubs before transfering to a different vent? (CCT Transfers)

I've seen both ways. I've seen people who switch without clamping. I've seen people who make sure to clamp before switching. Some people even carry kelly clamps on their uniform! From what I've seen, it doesn't really make a big difference on routine vent calls eg stroke, trauma. Not really sure...

    Should EMS/Fire be armed?

Perhaps my own experience with having a gun pointed at me is different from yours, but the two times somebody has pointed a gun at me, I didn't know what was happening until too late. If you know you're gonna draw, maybe you're a faster draw, but will you know? Hopefully your patient is actually...

So what happened after you guys cardioverted him? Did you guys decide that even though he was hemodynamically unstable due to his unobtainable blood pressure, that he seemed to be tolerating it well and tried Adenosine or Valsalva? Did you guys decide to follow the ACLS algorithm and shock him...

Not usually. Personally, I wouldn't be so hyperfocused on his medications. Treat what you have in front of you.

    Massive STROKE

Nah, strokes are like the easiest "emergency" we can run. Don't be such a nervous bee. :) My priority on scene is to do a FAST exam or equivalent. Find out the patient's baseline mental and neuro. Are they normally confined to bed or use a wheelchair? Did they have a seizure (Todd's paralysis)...

Best anatomy and physiology book and any book to help prepare for emt-b course

Moore Clinically Oriented Anatomy and Guyton Physiology, however, I think most books will be overkill for EMT. My EMT class I think spent 4 hours on anatomy? Whatever book your EMT class is going to use, it probably has a chapter on anatomy and physiology, and that's probably what I would focus...

    My CVA pt Took Aspirin

I think it's actually pretty common for previous ischemic stroke patients or patients at risk for ischemic stroke to take aspirin, plavix, or both. *shrug* If the patient is awake, talking, only a headache and hemiparesis, I would say he's doing pretty good considering he has a bleed.

    Hypotensive CHF patient

Man, I don't know dude. If my patient is anxious, I just verbally reassure them without giving them oxygen they don't need. It wouldn't cross my mind to intentionally incorrectly use the non breather mask by setting it to 6 LPM. It's 10-15 LPM or 12-15 LPM everywhere I've worked.

    Hypotensive CHF patient

6 LPM for a non rebreather mask? I'm used to either 10-15 or 12-15.

    EMR help

Most of us are probably EMTs and paramedics so that's probably why nobody answered your question yet. I don't know if there is a big market to prepare for EMR tests. I don't feel like there's a lot of you guys. I am personally too cheap for that too, haha. I know how you feel about practice...

    Thoughts on this EKG?

I don't know your level or ability to interpret, if you are experienced and trying to understand how people came to their conclusions, but if you are a student or new, this is not a great ECG example to learn from. It looks like there are some artifacts (outside interference causing the ECG to...

NREMT Paramedic 5th attempt, need help!

You can also do the opposite of what @Akulahawk said. You could read the answers first, then read the question. By reading the answers first, you'll know what you're looking for in the question. Easier to filter out unnecessary info.
