    Opinions on Medical Explorer Post

Just a side note, I would give ANYTHING to be in a real EMS explorer program. The only fire explorer programs around here are non-EMS. And the medical explorer program is just a viewing thing, it's basically a one time tour of each area, from a distance. I signed up for it in November or...

    Opinions on Medical Explorer Post

I disagree, I think that if someone has enough interest and enough insight into EMS to be doing an explorer program in their teenage years, then they are fully aware that they will see disturbing things. I'm an example of this. The number of teens I know that know what EMS stands for or that it...

    Haiti Earthquake EMS response

I've always wondered what emergency responders to disasters do about risk of diseases in unsanitary places like Haiti, I guess this is the place to ask. So are you given vaccinations or masks or what?

LEO Refuses to do CPR on Child Drowning Victim... Right or Wrong?

Can someone please just explain to me why police officers are exempt from negligence charges but no one else is? And also, if you are honestly going to argue that the officer didn't want to endanger himslef; cops are ready to take a bullet and put them selves in the line of fire for citizens...

    College and Paramedic Courses

How hard/overwhelming would it be to try and take a paramedic course while going through general courses (the basic three or four year program) at a university?

Is there room for a 19 year old in the EMT world?

I'll be in a similar situation soon. But my dilema is that I am pretty sure I am more interested in EMS than becoming a physician (not because of school, because of the nature of the job) and if there wasn't such a money difference, I would not even think about med school. There are a few...

LEO Refuses to do CPR on Child Drowning Victim... Right or Wrong?

When a person calls 911, they believe they are experiencing an emergency situation. When a public safety official arrives on scene, those people place their full trust in the person responding. An officer may not be able to give the same level of care that an EMT/Paraemdic could, but it is a...

LEO Refuses to do CPR on Child Drowning Victim... Right or Wrong?

Well how about you leave ancient arguments in the past, I'm sure it will be better for all of us. Clearly I lost that debate long ago .

What do you all have on your personal vehicles

...but that person could be you, why would you even take the risk? My instructor gave me a mask, and then I got one from work too, so I just have them stashed around different in places. This is one thing where I would rather be safe than sorry, and call me a whacker if you want but we're...

LEO Refuses to do CPR on Child Drowning Victim... Right or Wrong?

Well even if they don't, they should carry small first aid kits and at be trained in CPR. I'm surprised police academy doesn't cover that.

    LED vs Standard Flashlights

pack of 5 powerful LED flashlights for $10 at Home Depot, or a 2 large LED pack for $10 also at Home Depot. I do theatre lighting, I used to carry a small maglite to see up on the cat walks and in dimmer rooms, but these LED flashlights are 100 times better imo.
