*grins* And some of us are somewhere in between with more fire training than we know what to do with. *bops up and down* Welcome to the board. -Ray

Child to 911 dispatcher: 'My daddy killed me..."

That's....speechless. I'm speechless. If I were the police officer that went on that, the perp wouldn't be alive and I would be in jail. End of story. Some people are just disgusting. Utterly disgusting. -Ray

    Advice

The American Red Cross is a great place to get a class, but there are other places as well. The American Safety and Health Institute is one and the American Heart Association is another. They offer several different versions of a CPR class. You can get what they call the Layperson CPR course...

    Post Number 2000!!

How on earth can you tell what post number you are on? Is this some form of special thing that you need special EMTLife glasses for? Or maybe a decoder ring? Ooh....you should start a club and give out decoder rings! Ray

    Baptism by Fire

Yeah, and how embarassing is that to have to go back for a second time because you didn't "do it right" the first time? The whole county is laughing by the time the first alert finishes getting out....for the second time.

    Advanced Automatic Crash Notification-EMS/Fire/PD

Annoying as it may be, I'm sure that one time he needs it, he'll thank whomever that he has it. :)

Dead Man Removed From Ambulance, Put Back In Home

 See, as we're taught in lovely Harford County MD, if you have a dead body, it's just like evidence....keep it in the chain of custody. We usually wait until PD arrive at location and transfer the scene to them.... Ray

    BLS Intubations

Well, it's not so much knowing how to read/decipher EKGs for treatment, but to help the ALS providers when the need-be. I can kinda-sorta read EKGs, which helps my paramedic when he/she's busy doing other things. It also comes in handy when you have a paramedic en route and you can tell them...

    BLS Intubations

I have a question. It's probably something I'm going to have to look into here in Maryland, but do any of you have suggestions or ideas as to who I would talk to in reference to suggesting the idea of BLS providers using ET Tubes, or even Combi-tubes for that matter, and possibly being allowed...

    Arrythmia Identification

Recommendation: Basic Arrythmias by Brady (Fifth Edition is the latest out.....though by now there might be a sixth). It's a really good book that has all sorts of rhythms in it, and it's very good in regards to self-study.

    Mental Health

Oh no nononono....I'm not one of those 'I should get treated special because I'm female'. Actually, I can't stand that. If I'm going to do what you do, then I'm going to prove that I can do it. If you're going to do what I do, then you had better damn well prove that *you* can do it.

    Mental Health

Sorry guys. Yet again I keep forgetting the rest of the world is not like Maryland. There are two private ambulance services in Harford County, and both primarily run routine transfer calls. But that was not the point I was getting at.... I was just severely stressed about not having...

Glucometers and Test Strips on BLS?

That's quite true. However, it is also nice to be able take a finger stick, call ALS for low blood sugar, give glucose, take another finger stick, and cancel ALS because the meter shows that your pt.'s level has raised to a decent level. Of course, I know that 9 out of 10 pt's are never that...

    Who are you?

Hey guys. I'm 19, will be 20 in October....*does a happy dance*....I've been a volunteer for 2 years now. Have all the hoo-hah, FFI and FFII, Rescue Tech, Haz Mat Ops, EMT-B, blah blah blah. Firefighting is my life. I'm working, at the present time, to get a paid job in the city. *crosses...

    Mental Health

I don't think it should be mandatory attendance, but there should always be one available if needed....at any time. It's not always going to hit within the first 48 to 72 hours. It's when everyones done talking about that one call, things quiet down about it, and then you get to thinking about...
