    Paid "Volunteer" Department

That's why I said, "In any case, I believe that this "paid volunteer" status necessitates strict professional behavior and some form of coherent leadership. It's a slippery slope for those out there motivated by money." Why did you have to buy your own medical supplies? Is that not unorthodox?

Conflict of interest? Working for two ambulance companies

Sometimes companies want one to get approval before working for other EMS organizations. One I worked for specified that we were not allowed to work for company X, as company X needed extra part time employees when bidding for lucrative standbys. However, I worked for another company at the...

    Paid "Volunteer" Department

The state of Montana has had some issues with volunteer departments being "paid" volunteers while taking some of the special EMS volunteer benefits. Some departments were paying strange things like $50/hour during transport, but still claiming the volunteer benefits given by the state. I...

Healthcare reform passed in the USA

It does not address the foundational lack of correct valuation of healthcare.

    UK unveils "super paramedic"

That's why I posited that it must be solely based upon ER admittance rate post-911 call. I suppose that the only in a perfect world would such a "perfectly efficient" be truly so. Ah, and I forgot that this does reduce the number of patient-provider contacts.

[Patient's child on dispatch radio] First they came for the ATC'ers, but...

This is quite simply not a problem at all, in my opinion. Regarding the ATC incident, I've seen some pilots have a hissy about is, but most think that it's not too much of a big deal. Having flown many places, I've had ATC joke around and seen mistakes made, but this doesn't seem to be a...

    UK unveils "super paramedic"

This started off as an interesting topic, but it seems that it is turning into some catchphrase-ridden morass of sophistic, partisan conclusions based almost solely around certain users' political and psychological ingroupings. That is certainly not a competent style of communication...

    Pranksters superglue air ambulance gate

I once lost two rear tires to some prankster with a two large knife blades. Worthless people use their energy so creatively.

    Anyone know about this Felony?

This will boil down to personal decisions from other people. I know one guy that did worse; because he was young, and made an excellent impression on the Board, he was given licensure. Another person, with a far smaller issue, was rude and slovenly; he was denied. You won't be able to get...

What antics from teachers do you hate the most?

I've seen a lot of bad "educators." Most of them had no formal education in medicine, and no formal education in education. That's why I am pursuing/completed both. I think that educators should understand things such as zones of proximal development. I also highly recommend a good...

    A bit about my NREMT

So that webinar yesterday... Quick question for R/r or someone with knowledge: When writing questions, when we move to the ESs and away from the NSC, what references are going to be used for the test writing. Kathy Robinson said something to the effect of, "The ES will replace the NSC...

Local FF's shopping while on duty

Eh, poor attitude...the profanity wasn't professional and seemed unneeded, much the same as the one before it.

Local FF's shopping while on duty

I'm not out for approval, but I felt I should mention that when our ambulance utilized the lane, we never slowed down or blocked any traffic. Of course, we only ever did it at that one particular store, and it was in Montana, where the skies are big and the parking lots empty... However, I...

No. Had a dead one dragged up to me once.

Local FF's shopping while on duty

I've done this often with one particular ambulance company I worked with. We were lucky enough to have stations-though not usually lucky enough to have the time to use them-and they were usually close to grocery stores. We would venture out and one of us would go in with the radios and a...

POV lights for a Jeep Wrangler

Smallest, cheapest piece of junk you can buy, and I'd be an incessant pain in the butt about such an absurd policy. You know what you're getting yourself into with such a thread...ever thought about one of those light-up bike reflectors? ;)

    Absolutely appalled

I haven't read every reply in this thread, so forgive me if this has already been mentioned. I used to sleep on a very hard bed. One night, I woke up, and my arm was completely numb. It was dark, but I rolled over and grabbed my hand with my good arm, and sure enough, it was completely...

First responders not providing any Pt care

I hope it goes well for you. Professional ethics should not be sacrificed simply because one person is a jerk. From my experience, the states and NREMT are more than adequately helpful in these matters.
