Good to see this. I can't tell you how many fire guys have insisted that a pt must be placed in full cervical immobilization simply because of MOI. One of my biggest pet peeves.

Pretty much poverty range for SD.

SD city? Starting pay low 40s and a 401k retirement, I'll pass. As much as I love SD that pay doesn't justify living in a sketch part of town with roommates just to make rent. I'd be cautious about pursing them as a career due to low morale and the overall financial shape the city is in.

Setting an exit date to leave the state of CA feels good, even if it is arbitrary and a few years away. The only issue is my department pays me much higher (even with cost of living factored in) than departments back east. Oh well....

Going into different field?

I'm not found of the saying "you don't like it pick another career". This implies one should simply be grateful of the fact that have a job at all. Nothing will change when the brightest of EMS keep leaving because they fail to follow the status quo. It's obvious why so few EMS professionals...
