    Is It Time?

Won't ever happen (at least on the west coast). Fire unions are too strong and politicians are too spineless to do anything against said unions.

Staten Island man dies after being taken down by police

I've found it pretty simple to not get beat by the cops. It's actually pretty crazy, but when they say put your hands behind your back you follow the directions. But hey if you want to try the alternative such as this gentleman feel free to, see how it works out for you.

Or you can try this experiment, when an officer tells you to do something just do it.

Staten Island man dies after being taken down by police

A take-down is considered deadly force now? Hmm... I was wrestling with my brother today good thing I didn't murder him  And while I agree he wasn't harming anyone, he certainly wasn't cooperative when they were talking with him.

Ada and Canyon County Idaho Paramedics

I know, I subscribed two years ago. Just funny looking back seeing where I was and where I am now. Someone also brought back a San Diego thread I started three / four years ago. Just interesting reminiscing is all. Wonder where I'll be in the next couple years

    Higher Paying/Most Desired Depts.

Any large / medium sized FD in SoCal you can make 100k after a few years and some OT. Very competitive. I have an AS fire and BS EMS, exp as EMT and paramedic, fire academy, exp with a reserve dept and wildland dept. I'd say I'm your average candidate applying too. Nothing about me stands out to...

San Bernardino County Fire Department’s Bid May End AMR’s 33-Year Ambulance Monopoly

Do you live in CA? There's a 2-4 year waiting list for most nursing schools. I'm also seeing a trend that most hospitals won't take anyone without several years experience because they have so many applicants. There isn't a supply issue here.

San Bernardino County Fire Department’s Bid May End AMR’s 33-Year Ambulance Monopoly

I think 50/60k starting is very reasonable for RNs or FDs in CA. 50/60 an hour is well over 100k, I can't see hospitals staffing for very long paying nurses those wages.

San Bernardino County Fire Department’s Bid May End AMR’s 33-Year Ambulance Monopoly

Better union representation. IMO both nurses and firefighters in large cities in CA are overpaid.

Ridiculous. Well the way SB city is going that isn't likely to last long.

Are you talking about city or county? City: http://www.ci.san-bernardino.ca.us/cityhall/hr/job_classifications_and_salaries.asp After probation $6,195 monthly (74k) Still way over paid for a city that can't keep it's doors open.

San Bernardino County Fire Department’s Bid May End AMR’s 33-Year Ambulance Monopoly

Not sure where you're getting 80k Starting pay is around 51k for firefighter. With lots of OT you can make 80k but SBcoFD starting pay is no where near 80k. In fact no department in SBco starts at 80k, even Ontario and they are the highest paid...

San Bernardino County Fire Department’s Bid May End AMR’s 33-Year Ambulance Monopoly

SB county fire is one of the most politically active areas in CA. The county fire deparment not only wants to become a transporting department for the entire county but is also attempting to become a 'contract county' thus eliminating Cal Fires need to protect the SRA. I'm not sure where all...

    Shady Companies In LA City

I've had that conversation take place on more than one occasion when I listed the patient was standing/walking. We had a regular pt meet us down stairs of his apartment holding a suitcase after walking 3 flights of stairs. When I brought it up to sup/management I was told that he was too weak...
