    Badges, patches etc

We're all nerds... try state agencies; some might sell them online (but might actually require you to be certified in that state), Volly squads (might cause ya a buck) Can be bought/found usually at trade shows, conferences, etc. I say keen...am I unamerican? :P

    Intubation Experiance

Lol I have one sitting in my apartment from last years EMS Expo, waiting for a power outage.......I used one on a dummy there, it was a nice "adjunct" but think about it, if you can't already see your cords, should you really be passing the tube (where the only the tip is illuminated)?

    Intubation Experiance

I know, just hasslin'. I didn't have it available for my attempts and haven't had much practice with it (we were drilled on stylettes). Though using on a simman recently it does seem to be easier (with an additional set of hands)

    Intubation Experiance

When you first started intubation (which maybe a LONG time ago from some of you geezers :) ) , field/clinical/OR, wherever; were you successful, unsuccessful? Found it easy, difficult? At what point in time did it take you to "think" you were competent in ETI? Obviously every patient has...

Inspire Confidence in the Patient... how about myself?

Take a more wholesum look to EMS... Did you get the patient to the hospital without causing them further harm/injury? If so, it sounds like you did your job. If it was really a stroke and you're a BLS provider, just what treatment did you have in mind? (other than O2 and maybe some...

    Core (but rarely used) skills

wow Maybe I'm wrong here but doesn't this seem a little backwards? Many agencies allow their BLS providers to drop BAIDs (Combi, King, PTL, LMA, etc) but wouldn't dare letting them near an IO (yes, i know there are a few exceptions). I know IOs are not very difficult procedures, I just...

What kind of analgesic do you use?

Why does MIEMSS hate us? We have a huge arsenal of analgesic options in Maryland: -Morphine (changed to a weight-based dose this year) -Tylenol PO for minor to mild pain, recently added (last yearish); how often do i/have i seen it used? once. -Norm Alsaline for the drug seekers (jk :P)

Thanks! The pt. I saw did had elevated enzymes in the past 48 hours so I believe that was their concern.

To STEMI or not to STEMI, that is the question...

Nstemi? Unrelated: Spent some time in the cath lab recently (observing). PCI is truly fascinating sschtuff. (the last patient of the day was said to be having an AMI NSTEMI; there was a thrombus/occlusion in graft (previous CABG) going to RCA) kinda related: In the absence of STE, how could...

No RSI- Teeth clenched from Head Injury-WWYD

could be wrong as usual Not that I'm advocating nasal intubation here, but I think the original fears stemmed from the NG tube and kind of trickled down to every other nasally inserved device (NTI, NPA, etc)
