    Paramedic charged in patients death

Theoretically yes, quality BVM would work, but just drop the tube. I vehemently reject this “the system didn’t do enough to prevent me from ****ing this up”. The system typed ROCURONIUM on the front of the vial. They tried to play the “system failed me” defense with Vaught as well and it was...

    Paramedic charged in patients death

People get lost in the weeds on these cases, just like with Vaught. In both cases, the med error is not the criminally negligent part, the lack of care after the fact is.

    Paramedic charged in patients death

What’s negligent is she knew she did it before he went down and did nothing to prepare to take the airway. I don’t care if there wasn’t another paramedic doe 50 miles, everyone on scene needed to know what happened so they could work as a team to prevent the outcome which occurred. This was a...

    Paramedic charged in patients death

https://www.kktv.com/2025/01/18/former-paramedic-facing-manslaughter-charge-patient-death-accused-giving-wrong-meds/?outputType=amp Cliff notes - accidentally gave roc instead of ketamine for an agitated patient. Didn’t tell anyone, apparently didn’t rapidly intubate, patient coded but died 2...

    New double-blind a-fib trial

I mean it is an interesting question and one I hope is being asked.. a-fib patients were once considered to be anticoagulated for life, but is that just because we’ve always done it that way? I have encountered several a-fib patients who weren’t anticoagulated, by their own choice, and they...

    40 Years of NREMT Certification

From personal experience, all you have to do is take the test again, I don’t even think my med director had to sign off. I think we all agree that NREMT is theoretically best suited for national advocacy and in a perfect world they’d be the accrediting body for all ems education and scope of...

    40 Years of NREMT Certification

You brought this on yourself. You coulda posted your accomplishment by saying how excited you were at this milestone and left it at that, but you instead opened the door by mentioning you didn’t understand the hatred for NREMT. When you got responses to that statement (likely your intent...

    40 Years of NREMT Certification

Not once have I judged individuals who maintain their NREMT, in fact I said exactly that. But when someone tries to elevate themselves as superior over those who don’t maintain their nremt, or pass judgment and make false assumptions as to the reasons for their lack of motivation to do so, then...

    40 Years of NREMT Certification

State level nursing boards report to and are in compliance with the national board of nursing. NREMT has ZERO authority over state boards of EMS.

    40 Years of NREMT Certification

I just noticed a nugget buried in the middle of this regarding maintenance at the lowest level possible. I’m not going to turn this into a **** swinging contest but I can assure you that this is not the case for me. Conversely, maintaining NREMT is far from the highest level. I’d also add...

    40 Years of NREMT Certification

I didn’t have the energy to type such an eloquent response like Carlos, but he definitely covered the advantages of a national accrediting body and the shortcomings of the national registry. I do believe national registry and the same vision on inception but just never had the teeth to make it...

    40 Years of NREMT Certification

I take it you glossed over my original point that exam generation is the only purpose the serve? I’m sorry you’re taking this so personally, but you’re not likely to change my mind..

How did your NREMT influence your college choice?

    40 Years of NREMT Certification

Because I was at a base on the border of my state and the next one over and I needed to get my certification in the other state. That state, like a few others, uses national registry as their written exam.

    40 Years of NREMT Certification

I passed it originally and then I passed it without studying again in 2012 without cracking a book when I needed to get it back for AirEvac. Again, I don’t hate it, but it’s really nothing more than a badge of honor. To address your side point, if we really want to make ourselves more...

    40 Years of NREMT Certification

I don’t hate NREMT per se, but I think it’s a needless organization. State scope of practice and education curriculums remain unique to each stare, and NREMT certification does not automatically grant state certification. The board of nursing got it right. National curriculum and scope of...

    CPR vs RQI

It’s happened all over the country, mostly larger departments. The downside is that it’s fairly expensive, at least last time I checked..

    CPR vs RQI

I was skeptical until the first time I did it, now I think it’s better than regular cpr training. You better get 2 mins of quality compressions out or you’re done. Better be efficient with your bvm to compression swap or you fail. No more of this “eh it’s fine you’re good”.

    College Park/Grady EMS Fails Child

First article has Grady EMS claiming there were two firefighter/EMS providers on scene who could treat and transport if necessary, MSN article states no ambulance on scene. Facebook stalking of College Park Fire shows pictures of their "rescue" units which appear to be ambulances going back 15...

    College Park/Grady EMS Fails Child

I’ll wait for more info on this, but if the FD was on scene with a transport unit and this all went down, then it’s 100% on them..
