    Electrical activity with LVAD

"Patient's in non-viable rhythms can and do function with a VAD." Ok, my mistake. It should be made clear though that this is exceptional, and that essentially these patients are dying. These are not the patients that paramedics will typically see. Providers unfamiliar with LVAD's may confuse...

    Narrative saved the day

It's really too bad that he died. This is something that with prompt surgical intervention has close to a 100% survivability. ER Doc: if you saw an epidural bleed on a CT, how long would it take for a neurosurgeon to arrive at your community hospital? Could a general surgeon do this procedure...

    Electrical activity with LVAD

That is not possible. The LVAD is simply an assist device. The most important thing to understand about LVAD's is that the patient will be very knowledgeable about their device. These patients are all required to learn about their device. LVAD's are a big deal and the program is very expensive...

Do you guys know of any sites offering INSTRUCTOR-BASED CE's for paramedics online? Thanks! They would need to be approved by California EMSA as well.

Paramedic Practitioner? Masters degree and future of EMS

"I am working on my general Ed to get my AS degree, but just as something to do cause I am bored on my 5 days off each week. Not because it is a requirement or that I am learning anything extra that will help me be a better paramedic. Knowing all of the bones in the body doesn't help me out any...

    Staffing Configurations

In a perfect world we could close a whole bunch of fire station and have a mix of medic fly cars and bls ambulances, as well as some dual medic ambulances staffed by an experienced medic and a rookie.

Paramedic Practitioner? Masters degree and future of EMS

I like the OP's enthusiasm for wanting more education and expanding the role of paramedics. As others have said, we should first take baby steps. A good start would be to require all medic schools to require the prerequisites of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and basic psyche.

    88 y/o female with palpitations

@Aprz....thanks for your reply. To answer your question, diltiazem is the go-to drug for AF and A flutter, but the best way to answer your question in more detail is to simply direct you to Google the drug. Wikipedia is actually a fairly good resource, but you should research it further...
