question on eligibilty with military BCD

I'm going to have to agree here, it is not possible for you to get a BCD from an Article 15 under UCMJ law, simply as article 15 falls under non-judicial punishment and is split up into 3 categories which are summarized, company grade and field grade, each with their own limitations to severity...

Best (and Least Expensive) Supplier for EMT Supplies

A State Guard is different from the Army National Guard, State Guards receive little funding and only from the state with no pay but maybe a small stipend. They do not deploy over seas and only work in state emergencies. So he would in fact need to purchase most of his own supplies sad to say...

    Another American to Australia?

There are a few bachelors programs in paramedicine in the U.S. I can only think of two off the top of my head right now one being Loma Linda University and one being Western Carolina University. There are not many that offer 4 year degrees, but numerous schools offer associates in paramedicine...

    Where to start

There are few times when you would be too old to work on an ambulance, despite what you see on TV show's paramedics do not run 3miles from the truck to the scene or what not, in fact I can honestly say I have never seen someone in EMS run to a scene at all. There is a few thing's you do need...

    Combat Lifesaver vs. EMT/Medic

Sorry to jump into this a little on the late side but, first off the CAT is starting to be replaced by the SOFT-T as it is more reliable and will actually stop hemorrhaging from femoral bleeds. The majority of light infantrymen have muscular thighs and the CAT will not fit around or will snap...

Army 68W Airborne VS Air Force PJ VS Navy FMF Corpsman

What level of SERE school will you attend? will you go through SERE-C? Will they send you to paramedic school?

How to receive EMT-P as 68W

Well good luck with that, I hope everything works out to your advantage. Make sure you take advantage of your GI Bill (VEAP) your state tuition assistance and apply for the PELL Grant which should put some money in your pocket. I say use the VEAP because the post 9-11 won't pay for much seeing...

How to receive EMT-P as 68W

I am still in the army but have progressed to a PA, I was a 68W and prior to that a 91W, I am a paramedic as well but received my license prior to enlisting, I have done both active and National Guard (currently active,) as a bit of background on me. Being in the National Guard your chances...

Who's in what field of "specialty" EMS

So I'm curious as to who is in what field of EMS, so I figured I'd post about it.

    68w

Great that's all the Army needs is more inept medics roaming around if that is true. The army has already screwed up AIT by shortening the course and taking out rotations at BAMC all in an effort to get medics out quicker even though attrition rates are still extremely high I guess if they let...

    Specialist PAs

After I pass the PANCE I am going back to become board certified as an EMPA-C or Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant, and just as everyone else said a PA can specialize in just about any field as a DO / MD can, the highest paid PA's are those who specialize in surgical specialties.

US Government Considering Technology To Block Cell Phones In Moving Vehicles

That's what I would figure, but this is taking into account all MVC's reported not just ones with injuries.

US Government Considering Technology To Block Cell Phones In Moving Vehicles

The statistics in that report are very misleading... 5,870 people died due to "distracted driving" out of the 37,261 that died over all in 2008. Not to mention the number of driving related fatalities have gone down 14.9% from 1979 until 2009. Also another fun fact... The four most leading...

    Empathy

I remember a similar post to this a while back turned into a big argument over "professional detachment" and empathy and ended up getting locked. With that being said, I am a believer in detaching myself from the more serious patients, I still care about them as much as the next person but I...

    Emt-tactical

Since it has no "real" licensing board I'm sad to say just about any "tactical medic" class could... Although some states I.E. Texas do only recognize it after so many hours didactic and etc have been completed.

    Emt-tactical

EMT-T is a title given to one after completing a TEMS course, it is not recognized by the National Registry as it is not provided through the National Registry. It is not a locally accepted term it is nationally accepted.

    Tactical Medic Course

I didn't mean to call you out, I was just stating what he said only in a slightly more polite way, yes I know quite a few tacmedics who were never in the military, and when I did TEMS I was not a part of the SRT myself, though I did enter with them and did carry a weapon.

    Tactical Medic Course

In a lot of parts of the country SWAT is an antiquated term, just for your information. What He is trying to say is that a 3 day EMT-T course is not going to get you hired especially as a basic (you have a .5% chance of getting hired as a Tactical Basic.) TEMS is a whole subsection of EMS, you...
