    So tough to get hired...?

HN, most of the Paramedic schools in California, with the experience requirement also state that a certain amount of it (6 of the 12 months for where I want to go) be "prehospital." Sure, doing discharges for that time isn't truly prehospital, but for some reason they count that over ER...

Interesting, people do that kind of thing at my division all the time.... Yet another reason why I really need to get a transfer, but, for now, I'm stuck.

That's why I keep a full change of clothes in my car, as well as a shower kit, so that if I have to shower because of a bad call, I can do so at the station.

    Call Volume

I haven't worked 911 this time of year before, so, I can't really compare to historical numbers based on the time of year, but, the last couple of months I've had more GSWs than I had the entire previous year.

    Taking a wrong turn

That assumes you run out of a station.... Anyway, we have mapbooks (Thomas Guide), less clumbersome than PapaBear's. When dispatched, at the end of the address, we get the page and grid numbers. Assuming the driver knows the area, the attending/navigator can give the major cross streets in or...

    Working as EMT-B part time?

where I work, full time is 10 9s, 8 11.5s or 7 12s a week, or 9 day rotating schedule of 24s, that essentially works out as WOWOWOOOO. Part time is at least 1 shift a week (I think, they're being really lenient on that right now due to a push to keep hours down).

Negative Ghostrider! If your employer doesn't let you off for jury duty (or won't pay you for it) you can get them to write a letter, just like any other job.

Hahahaha, Mountain.... I've run some pretty large scale ICS responses. Course, the last two I was involved with, I was a logistics assistant, and an IC trainee (unofficial, the IC was almost certain I'd be next in line for IC, then, someone higher up burst both our bubbles, thought I didn't...
