    AEMT vs EMT-I

The majority of agencies have EMT-Is, very few AEMTs. So there is a good chance you get what we call "Intermediate Life Support"

JEMS: The Trade Rag of EMS

I don't even now why they call it a "Journal." Its far from an actual adacemic medical journal.

There definitely has to be a change.

    AEMT vs EMT-I

It all depends, for my department usually between 10-15 mins to the closest level III trauma hospital. But in some of the more rural/remote locations, it can take more than an hour going code 3. Some departments have a 30 min minimum transport time (with no ALS) and I know a few departments...

    AEMT vs EMT-I

In my county, besides the one paid agency with two medic units (that do respond out of dist) we maybe have 5 medics spread across 12-15 ambulances. And those medics are spread in between two volunteer departments. Like my department, we have three intermediates and that is it. Our most reliable...

Sadly, now it is plagued by a bunch of rich people moving in from California

Noticing a trend in CBG and ventricular ectopic beats.

12 Lead did confirm it as a ventricular rhythm. 2

Noticing a trend in CBG and ventricular ectopic beats.

I think at this point, her DKA was resolved and she was waiting for discharge. I remember looking at the labs, I didnt notice anything too different. My best guess is similar to yours. Something to do with the membrane transport of the electrolytes being altered by the high BGL. Pt's vision...

Noticing a trend in CBG and ventricular ectopic beats.

12 Leads were taken, no findings at all. Yeah whenever her glucose would go back to her normal ranges, PVCs would either disappear or have a few here and there.

    AEMT vs EMT-I

In my state, to operate as a Paramedic you need an AAS degree in paramedicine. But since you can't expect a bunch of volunteer EMS providers (in my county there is only one paid department that operates two rigs, and they don't go out of their district) to have a two year degree just to...

Noticing a trend in CBG and ventricular ectopic beats.

Female in her 40s with DM2 is admitted to the ICU for DKA. Initial lab tests show that blood sugar was in the 500s and electrolytes were normal. After taking care of this pt for a few days, I have noticed a trend. Her normal ranges for her CBG was between 250-300 and the pt was in normal sinus...

Why are most in EMS such jerks?

A lot of people in healthcare are jerks. Especially the nurses in the ED. Some are just complete *****es and have a "I'm better than you" attitude. Same with the fire service or LE, some are just *******s for no reason. I don't think it EMS community is any different.

http://highschool911.com/trailer Anybody know exactly how this 911 system works? I am interested in the opinions of the rest of the EMS community. In my opinion, I would have never trusted my 16 year old self in the back of the ambulance treating a patient. But I wasn't exactly most...

    Jump bag suggestions?

If you seriously run in into constant situations all the time, you must have a real dark cloud following you everywhere you go. Back to the topic of jump bags, I honestly don't see the point in buying a stocked bag. I personally think most of the ones offered online have a bunch of useless...

    Paramedic vs. ER nurse

Use your 4 years of free college to get your BSN. You have a lot more options/opportunities if you choose that route. Not to mention the better pay.
