    Stryker buys Physio-Control

Really? The LP20's been around for a long time... mostly on hospital crash carts. Always felt like the stripped down version of the LP12. Of course, the next update of the LP15 will look like this:

I'm dating a teacher. Now I understand why @MMiz never has enough time. :)

    Yosemite EMS

Yosemite has a pretty nifty system. I've made the cert the last two medic hirings, but haven't gotten an interview :( . NPS, in conjunction with the Public Health Service, staffs a clinic in the valley. They run a couple of ambulances from there, and others are also run in other places in the...

I'll be there. And NCEMSF, too.

    CAMTS requirements for flying

Welcome to EMTLife, Cynthia. I'm not going to say that flight is perfectly safe, but there are ways to mitigate the risk. Further, it's not like ground EMS is much better, nor is long-haul driving. PS... Can you try to be less awkward in the future? :)

    Dangers of EMS? Any experiences?

Soon as I saw you replied I knew you'd have won the "it happened to me" discussion. Falling out of the sky and living to tell about it is a hell of a risk in EMS. Even more so is the ~3-4 fatal HEMS crashes every year. Alright. I'm wondering. Where is this that has nursing staff wearing vests?

Remote / Offshore EMS gigs - where to look?

Alrighty, I'm thinking about making a change. Anyone have an recommendations on where to look for oil industry / offshore paramedic jobs? Additionally - anyone know anything about the Marcellus Shale in PA? Any opportunities there?

Odd question: Dual state licenses - does that exist?

I currently hold a PA card, Registry, and a MD EMT card. Will likely be upgrading MD to Paramedic, and adding DC and perhaps VA. I also had a NPS "White Card" which is the NPS's cert/credential.

    Dangers of EMS? Any experiences?

I've got both. In all seriousness, I'm wearing the vest again. Concealed carry doesn't do much, as the state prohibits me from carrying on duty.

    The good ole, Vanbulance.

So you mean it's got more plastic, less metal, costs more to fix, and will only run for half the overall time? :)

    Does your Company/Department provide CISD?

EAP is good. Debriefings / hot washes are good things. "Tell us how you feel" sessions are of dubious value.

    Isn't the EC145 just the 21st century BK117?

    Dangers of EMS? Any experiences?

On the more routine level, an average of 50% of EMS professionals report being assaulted on the job within the last year, but we tolerate it, for some reason.

    Dangers of EMS? Any experiences?

Have you been living under a rock? Someone took a potshot and grazed a FF in Jacksonville, FL late Tuesday night - http://www.firstcoastnews.com/story/news/crime/2014/12/23/jfrd-station-drive-by/20837641/ FDNY's MOVED E222 from its station in Bed-Stuy because of credible threats against PD...

Detroit fire department has alert system made of pop cans

It sounds like the bells are manually activated by the house watch firefighter, who's primary alert is a silent printer, hence the soda cans. I assume radio dispatch is a secondary method.

    Easy Cap

I haven't worked a truck without one. I used one earlier this summer when my filterline EtCO2 adaptor got fouled w/ already aspirated vomit 20 minutes into a code. It was better than nothing.

If you truly want to improve ergonomics and save your crew members backs, then you should work to get rid of long boards.

    Forging signatures

Alex, You've screwed up. Royally. My suggestion would be to come clean to your instructor/course director. Yes. You'll probably get kicked out. But they might be able to work with you and come up with another option... Like you re-doing ALL your clinicals.

    EMS Unions in So cal

Billing is secondary to patient care... But it does need to get done. And if you're NOT gathering the information, the company is paying someone ELSE to do it.... With money that you could perhaps be getting paid. It's often far easier to gather the information at the time of service than down...
