    Anyone working in ca?

Sorry, your information about LA County is wrong.... :this post brought to you by a BLS 911 ambulance, rocking a random parking lot, somewhere in LA County:

    Murphy's Laws of EMS

Hmmmm, really? because the last time my partner did that (I could use a good TC) we proceeded to get several in increasing severity.

    QUICK!!! lol - EMS Boots

Only problem with the Magnum zippers, being circular, there's a lot more stress on them than there should be, I had to keep having mine resewn, it's why I now, like others, wear haix (and, even though mine were just over 200, work is paying me back for 150 of it).

Does CA require hazmat training for EMT-Bs?

Care's not the only one. And neither is OCEMS... To Mountain, no, we don't carry water purification, but, nearly all of use carry large amounts of water on shift, and food, yes, we bring it, because, we work nights. No need to bring clothes, no need for a sleeping bag, both cut down a large...

Does CA require hazmat training for EMT-Bs?

Come take a tour of my rig sometime Mountain, you might be surprised.... Most of the aforementioned material was provided by my company, and the rest is brought on by crews daily.

    Anyone working in ca?

I work in So Cal, and, like VC, I'm not going to post my company's website. Will tell you, it wouldn't help anyway, we're not hiring. And, if you thought about it, for a few minutes, you probably know who we are anyway.

Why don't EMT's have license plates?

Depends on your state, Cal is right now trying to see if there's enough interest to start issuing them. BUT, they don't get you out of anything.

Does CA require hazmat training for EMT-Bs?

I had awareness in basic class, and officially certed as aware when I was hired (and, have to retake every year). It's basically, what to look out for, and where to stage should you be first on.

Can we stop some of these, please ?

Which is why a large number of the fire medics out there resent the medical calls, they got medic JUST for the fire position. If you want to be a firefighter in SoCal, without doing EMS, try the county services....

    Boots - WOMENS

I got the Men's because, like you, I really wanted to try them on, and the only place to do that is a fire supply store, in an area where there aren't a lot a female firefighters, so they don't carry the Women's model. They DID offer to order them for me, and let me try them on before paying...

    Boots - WOMENS

I'm now wearing Haix Airpower X1s sized 4.5 Wide. I actually wear a 6.5 Medium in Women's. I have two issues with men's boots in smaller sizes, one, Women generally have higher insteps. With the Haix, and the way the zipper's lace into the boot, I was able to make adjustments. The other is...

Medics leave it to the Basics

Yes, medics downgrade calls for me (on a basic/basic truck) all the time. And, just so you know, where I am, we don't call for ALS, they are dispatched at the same time we are. I've had a few patients that should have been ALS dumped on me (one was more of a "what if" situation, patient had a...

    Ambulance Driver's License (ADL)

Luke, I printed my first one off the internet too, my doctor gave me the card. You do know that your ADL isn't valid without a valid green card, right?

    Boots - WOMENS

Be careful if you get zippers though, I kept having to have mine resewn.

    Oh boy...

LOL, I had a partner who would do that too. He was always Maverick. You're not him, are you?

    Scene-Safety/ Laws protecting EMS professionals

In California, yes, it's akin to attacking a firefighter or LEO, but, it's not a felony unless the attack would otherwise be a felony. It does get the attacker double the sentence though.

    Call signs

Ours is morse code, and, on our normal channel, we don't normally hear it (radio filters it, or maybe they just have it programmed to sound like mic clicks). On our alternate channel, we hear it, first time we had to switch with one of my old partners, he freaked out, wanted to know what it was.

    Boots - WOMENS

I just bought a pair of Haix. They're expensive though.

    911 calls released to public?

That's another example of when it would happen. I believe they were contacted and gave consent prior to it being released.... Stupid calls get released all the time too (like the lady that wanted the cops to come out and take a report because a certain fast food place wouldn't make what she...
