IQ challenged partner dumps out drug box...

I've dumped our tackle box (also a Plano!) a few too many times to judge. Perhaps I'd be more careful with drugs, but I also really really like my purdy lures so it's hard to say.

    Traffic Stopped!

I would have laughed in his face. Cops are the WORST distracted drivers. They drive around while on the phone, drinking coffee, talking on the radio and typing on their MDT. I'm sure there are some exceptions and I have nothing against cops, but most will admit they do this. I will not use my...

    Stethoscope Rot/Hardening

Have heard of it happening. I don't think most EMTs will have one around their bare neck enough to see the effects in any reasonable amount of time. It's more of a concern for folks in clinical and hospital settings who always have one around their neck. If you're worried about it just get a...

    Lung Sounds

Pretty much every patient, except those with isolated extremity injuries. They're quick and give you an opportunity to assess more than just breath sounds. You can get a better idea of their skin condition, respiratory rate and effort, etc etc without totally creeping them out or scaring them...

    Being sucked into dispatch.

Although I agree people on the street need to be paid more, you have to consider that working in dispatch isn't that great and the turnover is bad - even worse than the street in many cases. They have to pay people that much to attract anyone. Look at how negatively you all see working in...

    Volunteer SAR

Not sure about orange county but very very few SAR teams are paid. Here in CO although SAR is legally the county sheriffs office responsibility the teams are usually quite separate and just operate under an agreement or.contract with the SO. They are not reserve deputies. Again this may be...

    Patient Follow-Ups

During ride-alongs I'd see little forms in the EMS lounges. If you wanted follow-up info on a patient you could fill one out. I assume then someone would get back to you. I think most hospitals here have a liaison or contact person that works for the hospital that can help you find out what...

    Being sucked into dispatch.

I got sucked into 911 dispatch from working patient care (although not really the field). I miss patient care, but it's really hard to to imagine a $10/hr pay cut and losing the very nice benefits of working for they city. If you start making more moolah you often increase your standard of...

Are you noticing an upswing in bee stings this summer?

Haven't taken a single one this year or heard any go out. We did have a guy get tubed by the PA at an urgent care today - sounded like anaphylaxis but staff didn't know what caused it.

"He's seizing! Stick a shoe in his mouth!"

My epileptic dad has never bitten his tongue. He did tend to have snoring respers and seemed to have a faster return from postictal-land once I learned to lay him on his side. Sent from my telefono

    the 100% directionless thread

I don't take any issue with it myself and I think it's really cool when people are able to donate tons of stuff to food banks and such. I just don't have the hours to spend personally. Some of the folks on the "Extreme Couponers "show genuinely concerned me. Most were normal and just clever...

Hmmm.. I am starting to get the suspicion you are the Southern version of me. With the coupons, dogs, Christmas, and outdoors and what not. :)

That's pretty much the best. I've received money back a few times. I have like 5-6 tubes of toothpaste, which were free, stashed. Not as bad as some people who dedicate their entire garage to stashing their scores.

I'm not an extreme couponer by any means, but I still love it when grocery clerks are genuinely surprised and compliment my skills when I save $80 + on my order. Hahaha.

As a Jew who has just spent her first few Christmases with a goyim, I must admit the whole cutesy ornaments, smelly tree, tinsel and lights thing is like crack cocaine but it's packaged and available at Target.

Oh man... the last time I played that game I was about 10 and hospitalized with pneumonia for a week... and they brought the wheely video game cart into my room every day... and I got really, really good at video games. Sweet, sweet memories. Spending a week on a peds floor in bed playing Crash...
