    Here in my town we have 3 of our members who work in the local jails but they were hired as Corrections Officers. The NWT Corrections Service only hire RNs for medical services.

    In Canada to be a paramedic the education is 3 to 4 years to be a ACP with 3 years being the average. Canadian post secondary courses dont require pre req like USA post secondary doies has those courses are taugh in High School in Canada.

    In my service before we use the lifepack for BP and pulse we have to get a manual BP and pulse first. After we get it manulally then we can use the machine.

    In Canada until the late 1990's the province of Ontario used to have grade 13 which was pretty much first year university. Ontario removed grade 13 to get inline with the rest of Canada.

    Primary Care Paramedic.

    Have you tried Turks and the Caicos they have expressed interest in joining confederation as a territory of Canada on par with Yukon Territory, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut Territory. They do want to be part of Canada so they might easier accept Canadian credentials for EMS down there.

    The University of Toronto at /scarborough offer a Bachelor of Schience in Paramedicine thats for Primary Care Paramedic and according to the UofT web site that degree can be used to enter the UofT medical school.

    If I hear one more person complain about EMS wages...

    Even though salaries for EMS is better in Canada we are still the lowest paid of emergency service with Fire and Police making more, but EMS in Cnada are paid salaries they can live on.
