Power Stretchers - Who's not using em?

Yes, we finally moved into the early 21st century! As of 3 weeks ago, every ambulance has a PowerPro pram and the PowerLoad.

    Routine PPE

N95 or P100 plus eye pro for every call is the standard. Gowns for aerosol generating procedures. We’ve had mixed compliance, though. I agree with everyone else about eye pro being a standard, I’ve been wearing it on every call for 15 years now, but I’m very much an outlier.

    911 EMT Jobs near Denver

I third PotatoMedic's advice and what Tigger said about Falck. Denver Health intermittently hires EMTs for a mix of detox van and ambulance shifts. Off the top of my head, your other options for 911 are Stadium in Golden, AMR in Boulder/Longmont, and Northglenn in Commerce City. Apex Paramedics...

    Career routes

Realistically, it's 2 separate career paths. Federal wildland jobs are pretty much done hiring for this year. They all post on USA Jobs starting in the fall. Having your EMT is a plus for hiring, but it'll be a secondary part of the job at best. Generally you start with a seasonal job. With the...

Paramedic Jobs in the Denver Area -911

Thanks for the updates Tigger. I always forget that Clear Creek County exists. You can also add Evergreen Fire to the asterisk list as they hire single-role paramedics. I hadn't heard the news about AMR and the Springs, either.

Paramedic Jobs in the Denver Area -911

    Help with manual vitals?

To add to what Akulahawk said, try palpating for a brachial pulse. Once you find it, put the stethoscope on top of that and you'll hear anything there is to hear. It's also a handy spot to check pulses on restrained patients.

ER Tech Jobs in Denver Area

Can’t hurt to apply. I definitely wouldn’t worry about the Colorado DL, as long as you have a valid state driver’s license somewhere it’s easy to transfer. As far as the IV cert, we do classes in house, you might be able to get hired and just have to take the class within a certain amount of...

ER Tech Jobs in Denver Area

Good catch, I missed that one. It’s an EMT-B job, I believe it’s listed that way since it’s under the paramedic division.

ER Tech Jobs in Denver Area

So Denver Health hires EMTs for ambulance and detox jobs through the Paramedic Division as well as ER techs through the ED. 2 separate positions with 2 separate listings. The only listing I see for EMTs right now is a Behavioral Health Tech at the city jail. Not sure if that matches your...

What has been your experience with language barriers?

Interesting, I did not realize that was an internal standard vs a JCAHO standard. It’s probably worth pointing out that some of these standards likely affect us differently as a hospital-based agency vs a stand-alone/private/fire-based agency.

What has been your experience with language barriers?

I obviously can’t speak for every hospital... that said the JCAHO annual training I have to do for my hospital-based service specifically says that any staff who wants to act as a translator needs to be approved by the hospital. We have access to the Language Line and I make use of that. The...
