Look, to be honest, when you look at the documentary/movie - they show Johannesburg EMS (government) and from what people tell me, JEMS is bad hey! If you come to Cape Town and you work with us (Metro EMS) - it's like a massive difference - we are also short alot of equipment but we not as bad...

It's a very good movie to watch but a few years old, most of all the people in this documentary have left the services - Mr Kallie Burger (seen in the doc) still works for government services.

South Africa, they are always looking for EMT-B's! If not for the EMS companies here (private and government) then for events and such.

So, do you guys get 'set' partners that you work with mostly? I have been partner jumping since joining Metro EMS and I'm so irratated about it, I never know who my partner will be and can't seem to get a hang over how each one works. I can't demand a set partner either because 1) I'm new...

Ya! That must suck! no communication what so ever between services! :(

Here in ZA, there are lots of 'newbies' who have red lights all over the cars (we use red for ambulances and response cars) Many don't seem to know that you must be a registered 'response' vehicle to use those reds and if you are caught by 'traffic' for using them, you'll get a massive fine...

We not allowed to carry 'weapons' but many of us carry 'knives' which double as a knife which is used to cut like seat belts etc. So I'm assuming if they were asked why they have it, it would be the "we use it as a rescue tool" but it can be used for defense. ;)

25 I became a EMT-B, I start my EMT-I course on the 25th at Metro EMS.

I have noticed that there are so many hot 1st year doctors at the local government hospitals - my girlfriend whom I do love very much is a 2nd year paramedic student so I don't really care about them, but apparently my partner says I do turn heads at hospitals. :p

I'm keen to try do some short courses; CPUT offers the following at it's "Survival Centre" http://www.cput.ac.za/survival-centre I'm keen to do the: AVIATION H.U.E.T (PRACTICAL DRILL ONLY) What do you guys think? Could it benefit me?
