Volunteering in the community in which you live is the best idea out there. I live on a "small" Air Force base and volunteer in the very small town(4 police cars small). When tones drop and I run code 3 from my house on base to the station in town I typically miss the trucks and respond...
I quit.....you just don't get it and will not get it.....a vest is not a force field. Wear a vest.....I do not care, maybe it will help you sleep better at night. As for this thread....don't expect a reply from me, I am through wasting my time on this.
Sure, I do. But then no one gives a damn about spinal immobilization, and first responders can push fluids. It's a different world. And even the best vest and vehicle armor can't always protect you from getting your leg blown off, or becoming entrapped and burning to death. I have seen armor...
Think rationally about this....a vest will not protect you. Say your shooter is a bad shot....hits your O2 tank..... Clearly many of you are not thinking rationally. Will a vest protect you from someone wielding a knife? Or shooting you in the leg, face, neck. That storm trooper armor...
Vests are a great idea.....against someone you can see. WTF are you going to do about the person with a high powered rifle and scope? I have worked on pts in a tactical/war environment wearing a vest with heavy armor plates and a helmet.....one well placed shot and it does not matter what you...
Build my own antenna? Hmm, sounds fun! However....I don't think I will mount it on the car....I get enough grief rolling a PT Cruiser with a lightbar on it! I think I might look around and consider my options, again thank you for all the input!
Right now all I have on my radio is the stock rubber duck and I have the frequency specs for it, I was hoping a taller/better constructed antenna would help....but then it could just be I live too far from our radio tower.
Thanks for the responses guys. I take great care of the radio and battery(making sure to fully discharge it from time to time). I work for a volley dept and I hear everyone else except our dispatch, hearing tones for the pager is no problem...hearing my dispatch is the problem. I can hear them...
Anyone know of a good way to extend the tx/rx power of a handheld radio? I have a Motorola HT750, and looking for a way to boost its ability w/o making it completely cumbersome to carry. Any thoughts?
Ah yes.....the B-2....biggest hazard to public safety...you know how many people have almost been run down just gawking at it? Or just pulling off the road to ogle it?
With gas prices the way they are....no way in hell I was going to drive that far! I am very glad you passed though, and very glad to see you didnt give up and let the test beat you.
