Fire suppression on top of EMT-B course??

If it were me, and I had to have this fire supression course knocked out, I would probably take it with the EMT class, but make EMT class my priority. EMT class will probably be easy for you, but some people get stressed and overwhelmed at the end when it's time for practicals, finals and...

Fire suppression on top of EMT-B course??

If you have no medical experience or education, are working full time and have a family, EMT school will probably be moderately difficult, assuming this is a normal 4 month class, and will require pretty much what the orientation sheet says in my opinion. FF 1 and 2 are generally considered...

    Ugh, got in trouble

Hey, at least you didnt play a prank on an EMT student using a dead patient as a prop. I'm still shaking my head over that one. Edit: and no it wasnt me, a post I read on here earlier.

Just broke the seal on an airline jump kit

Frdude....I dont think theres anything wrong with constructive criticism. The OP is (according to him) a professional EMS provider. It wasnt like he was just a good samaritan. Some things in the story seemed kind of immature and unprofessional, at least to me. It might just be the way he's...

Just broke the seal on an airline jump kit

It would seem to me a jaw thrust alone would be a pretty good way to evoke a pain response. So what was even wrong with the patient? No real information aside from they were unresponsive. Were there snakes on the plane? EDIT: oops my bad I missed the post where the OP clarified the...

    Nervous about EMT Practical

I would still memorize the skill sheet. All it takes is to not verbalize something like your patient is a high priority for immediate transport or some other thing and you fail the station. Regardless of what the person testing you thinks, if you hit everything on the sheet your supposed to and...

    Paramedic clinicals-Q's from an Aussie

Come on now. I did my clinicals November thru January, in Northern Michigan! Just make sure you bring along a hat and coat, and maybe wear some long underwear and you'll be fine, good training. Might see some interesting snowmobile versus ___ calls, or get to take part in a vehicle extrication...

    considering getting out

Getting away from Detroit might help. I lived in Inkster and didnt fully realize what a S*$%thole it was until I moved away. I'm as far away from the big city as I can get now and have no plans on ever moving back.

    Paramedic clinicals-Q's from an Aussie

Doesnt the school your taking your medic class with arrange all that? If it's anything like my EMT class, we were given a list of ambulance companies and Emergency Departments they had a clinical arrangement with. We signed up for a clinical rotation online, at least a week in advance.

    Help with direction

As a medic in the military, you arent exactly going to "work as an EMT". I cant really speak about the guard or reserves. I wasnt a medic either. But as far as what I observed for active duty medics. When in garrison they basically sat around in a clinic, sort of like a doctors office, and saw...

Should I go to Paramedic school?

Most of what I've heard is that paramedic school is hell, and the less medical education and experience in EMS you have when you start it, the more hellish it is. That might be a bit of an exaggeration, but I have yet to come across anyone that thought medic school was fun. Whether you want to...

    Driving an ambulance

No you cant just be an ambulance driver. An extra set of trained hands eyes and ears is important. If you just want to drive a truck, get a CDL. If you want to drive an ambulance, become an EMT.

Would it be possible to work in another state if?

Moral implications aside, how stupid was it to pull this prank on some random EMT student you had never met before, and therefore had no idea how they would react. It wasnt like this was a coworker, or some student the OP was familiar with. That was pretty ballsy, and obviously had the...

Would it be possible to work in another state if?

A prank involving using a recently deceased person as a prop might give people reason to question the jokesters moral fitness. The excuse that other people are doing it doesnt really fly, this isnt high school. If its true that this was a common practice, seems to me a good way to nip the...

How many survived your EMT class?

I'm curious what happens if a school has a poor first time pass rate. Is there a certain rate they have to remain above?

    Brady Books

I Havent seen a moseby book, but I've heard some say they are better than brady or aaos, especially for preparing someone for the NREMT. I liked Brady a little better than aaos, but didnt really care for either. Ive taken more than a few college courses, and I thought the textbook and...
