    Fire Trucks at medical scene

I'll just leave this here. We are a combined Paid/Volunteer Fire/EMS system, providing ALS Rescues, Engines and Ladders, as well as a few BLS apparatus, with private BLS providers as well. We have aggressive protocols and excellent medical direction to the 1000+ members of the Dept, serving...

    Unions????

IAFF? I'm EMPACCT, but the FireMedics are IAFF. We pretty much ride their coattails with contracts, but they are well written and provide us well. I think our uniform allowance is 400-500, but MUST be spent at the only authorized uniform store, and only on certain allowable items.

Another cop stops a speeding car on the way to the ER with a dying patient thread

The cop followed the book. How many of you second guessers are LEOs? Know the dangers LEOs face? Tool bags. :glare:

    Glucagon vs IV Dextrose

great question. We use IM Glucagon as a backup, when ya have the day when you can't hit the broad side of a barn with a 24, or the pt left their veins in their other skin. Also hit on was the point of Glucagon IVP for Beta Blocker ODs. Look into the special considerations for that, as...

    Pausing for the tube

I don't pause. I also load my tubes with a gum bougie, so its MUCH easier to pull the tube up a bit, put the bougie in, and slide the tube down.

    NYC FDNY EMT Hirings.

The pay for Medics in the Northeast (at least NY and NJ) for medics is pretty good. I was making 22+ as a new medic with almost unlimited OT in Jersey plus differentials, and I make 25+/hr as a per diem.

What is the basis that a private would hire a new, inexperienced EMT-B?

You are cheap labor labor that is required for them to have.

Top 10 reasons why I became an EMT.

EMS girls are usually hott. They love firemen. Poking people with needles and pushing meds is cool. I get to drive really big Rescues. I get flashy lights. I get cool t shirts. Yes, this is facetious. Well, the last part at least......

How to address disabled family members.

However that person got to the hospital, should be the way they get home. If the service is DCed, they should have made arraingements earlier. Disabled means I make reasonable accomadations for you, not bend over backwards because you are lazy/ignorant. Then again, I don't do...
