    AMR Riverside

Definitely recommend getting to know the area cause they don’t route as well as they should, but unit I’m on doesn’t even have a Thomas guide haha. And that’s cool though that they are keeping part of your seniority

    Thoughts on being a Medic/RN

I say get your RN. Working as a medic I love it but it definitely is not a career option, especially in so cal, unless you get on with a big fire department. You could do medic then do fire and then go RN but saying you live in area you know how competitive fire is down here and till that...

    AMR Riverside

Are you going to be an EMT or Medic? I work in San Bernardino county as a medic, which so far I like. Good calls and chill co workers/sups. As for emts, my division puts all emts through FTO training on a 911 rig, but then they go to a BLS unit/IFTs until a als EMT spot opens up. as a medic...

    Tattoos

I have a sleeve and both my employers don’t mind. A few people I know have hand tattoos as well. As long as it’s not offensive

Stressed guys messdd up on some calls.

My suggestion, always get at least one full set of vitals ( my area requires two). Even if means waiting a second to unload patient at ER. And if you can’t hear ( which for me is an issue with the manual cuffs) you can always get a palpated BP. if unable to at all, document document document...

911 experience and paramedic school (oc)

If you stuck in OC I say shoot for care. Doctors has a 911 contact but only for laguna beach which is not busy at all and mostly senior folks will be on it. lynch does do one on one and I’ll let me EMT partner pretty much do assessments on calls we run. Though the calls typically are always...

    Placentia Transition with Lynch

Oh EMT wise it is different. If your on ALS shifts it is 11 hour shifts, OT after 8 On BLS shifts it is I believe 10 hour shifts, OT after 8

    Placentia Transition with Lynch

We do 11 hour shifts, time and a half after 8. for 911 side it is after 40 but they also work 48 hour shifts on a Kelly schedule.

AMR Santa Barbara or Gold Coast Oxnard (AKA AMR Oxnard)?

I worked briefly at Santa Barbara (left due to unable to relocate and financial problems at the time) The division is awesome. Wasnt to busy. Mostly BLS fire departments. They make you feel welcomed and part of the team. I would definitely recommend Santa Barbara over Oxnard ( don’t know much...

    Placentia Transition with Lynch

Oh awesome! I just heard rumors around ERs that of course 99% of time are not true. The Emergency crews are always awesome to run with and work along when I get the chance too.

Really bummed in myself for messing up on a call. Stroke

Sounds like he started showing symptoms upon arrival to ER. That’s not something you can predict/assume to happen.

What was your first 911 call?

from my experience, 70-80% of my calls are vitals, transport and that’s it. Narcan gets boring very fast and the post vomiting that’s always happens ( at least for me) is not fun.

    OC Driver/Attendant Accreditation

I work in OC and as a medic I don’t need the certificate but EMT partners told me that you just have to go to OC health website. EMS tab. And register for the certification.

    Placentia Transition with Lynch

oh damn haha yeah definitely different. Meds and equipment is always good and if something is broken it’s automatically taken off the rig. Most the medicsI feel try to keep everything in top shape.

    Placentia Transition with Lynch

That’s the plan I believe but emergency has the BLS transport contract until next year. As of now Lynch jumps in with emergency. So two ambulances on scene but believe ( from what I hear at least) there waiting for there contract to end.

    Placentia Transition with Lynch

Going great. I work here currently. They have been hitting all there benchmarks so far without any issues. I think only 8 times they called for mutual aid in July ( could be off by few) compared to about 70 times last year with ocfa. we still aren’t getting used for much mutual aide though...
