    Gold Coast Ventura County

Gold Coast is a 911 provider… You have to put your time in on the BLS IFT side before you can work on the ALS side. You should probably do some research on that.

    Medic positions in SoCal

In Ventura County, you are in charge. On occasion, a fire medic may want to retain care but, it’s not common. There’s a very good working relationship with all agencies in Ventura County. ALS units are on 24s with a few 12-hour day cars. The system is pretty much busy, especially, at Gold Coast...

How is AMR ventura as a new paramedic

It’s your show, you run the call. AMR owns Gold Coast, but those are two separate companies and the work culture is night and day. East county is more laid back than West County, however, expect to be on the move the first part of a 24. There are 12-hour units that handle the gaps during calls...

Why doesn't this apply to EMTs and Paramedics in the private sector?

I used to work in Ventura County and they are working on programs. From what I hear, all the agencies have come together to assist with training and counseling. Heard they even have an emotional support peer program with a dog. You’re probably not gonna find it working for the Russian mob in LA...

    Ventura County EMS

Both companies staff 24s, with a couple of day cars. Gold Coast runs more calls than AMR but both are just as busy. Gold Coast covers Ventura and Camarillo, when those units are busy. I’d say vice versa but, Gold Coast will try to clear as soon as they can to keep AMR out of Oxnard. Gold Coast’s...

For the more seasoned EMTs, what does a new EMTB do that bothers you?

There’s a lot but, most of it is from their training or lack of. Being a know it all without knowing it all, using gps to get to the hospitals, interrupting a report, not asking how to do something, and asking how to do something and not listening and learning.

    California Prop 11

AMR short staffing and cutting rigs is more a danger to the public.

    AMR Ventura/Riverside/San Bernadino

In Ventura less than 14, although, Gold Coast pays slightly better than AMR.

    AMR 911 Contracts (National)

AMR is abandoning their entire L.A. County operations.

    Goldcoast Ambulance Oxnard, CA

Also, when I was there. They only ran dual medic rigs for the 24 hour cars and emt/medic for day cars and a million EMTs for IFTs.

Gold Coast is not a "boot camp." Nobody transfers over, their EMTs and medics get hired by fire departments regularly. They are actually short staffed due to fire departments hiring. You're more likely to run on BS calls or patients with multiple conditions killing them at once. The entire...

    $15 an hour....???

I wish. The average medic where I used to work was only into partying and Havasu. They'd complain about lack of pay and somehow manage to go party every weekend.

Firefighter who flunked physical injured 10 days into job

Where I used to work, they've been hiring females like crazy. If they aren't on their knees or back with male co-workers, they are on light duty due to injuries. That or crashing rigs. Just adding a fact. I've worked with a few awesome female medics and EMTs and too many terrible male medics and...

    $15 an hour....???

EMS is just a slacker spot while waiting to get hired by a fire department. Everyone whines about pay and are always taking trips to Hawaii or driving their dozers and boats down to Havasu every weekend. Apparently, lack of pay is top priority, brah.

Part Time EMT-B prospects in Ventura County?

Your chances of getting hired increase for Gold Coast or AMR if you are female, they have a bunch of female EMTs. I hear you gotta suck up to their CPR people to get a chance, a chance to drive around in a ambulance that has a hospital logo all over it. Lifeline, no idea. Those guys have...
