Are you a CPR/EMT instructor or training center?

I am the founder/lead developer for RescueLink Software, a web-based CPR and EMS class management system. The software manages everything from classes and students, to instructors and payments. There are separate control panels for administrators, students, and instructors. It generates...

    EMS employment in MA

To add on to MedicTim, I would try to add some volunteer experience if you have the time. It's definitely a way to get your foot in the door. I faced the same problem for awhile, and the thing that changed it was my volunteer history. There are definitely a lot of places that you can do some...

    EMT Accessories

I love having my own stethoscope, and it is a great investment. My first one that I bought wasn't very good even though I spent some money on it. Basically, price doesn't necessarily reflect the quality. Right now, I use a Littmann one for my medic clinicals and for when I work. I absolutely...

How "Basic" is BLS in your area

Our scope in RI is fairly expansive (in comparison to CT where I have worked as a Basic, and the national). Medications: Acetaminophen (oral/rectal) Activated Charcol Albuterol (nebulizer) Aspirin Calcium Gluconate 2.5% (gel) Epinephrine 1:1,000 IM EpiPen Auto Injector Glucagon IM...

    How many on your ambulance?

ALS units roll with one paramedic/EMT-C (I'm from Rhode Island) and one EMT-B. BLS trucks are 2 EMT-B's or one EMT and a driver. Trauma/MVA/CPR will get the first responders from the fire department.

    First call?

DOA. I was only 16 at the time. Just kind of awkwardly stood around at 4:30 in the morning until we cleared the scene.

    Emt-b student

Great advice. Most of the time you will be required to learn some things on your own, and they will recap/explain the most important things in class. My biggest tip: avoid cynicism. I've encountered a lot of people that want to become old and cranky right after finishing their basic. Be...

What method would YOU use to discern V-Tach from SVT with abbarency?

Quickest and easiest way would be concordance in the precordial leads (usually favors V Tach in that case). Also, I would look for Josephson's/Brugada's if time permitted (for v tach). But honestly, the pads would be on anyway so it would most likely be a synchronized cardioversion either...

What defines a high volume/busy system?

I think it just depends on where you are working, the population, the types of calls, etc. For example, I live in a coastal community where the population fluctuates between the winter and summer. We usually staff one ambulance during the winter, then as the tourists come in (and the...

    The Official EMTLIFE Introduction Thread

Hello! Hello everyone, I'm an EMT-Basic from CT/RI, currently in the clinical phase of paramedic school. I am also a CPR instructor and working towards my EMS instructor certification. I work on a municipal ambulance and teach when I am not working. Off duty, I'm an avid surfer...
